The spinning actually has a major effect on the launch. The energy value shown next to the cursor increases while you spin, and more energy means a much faster launch. At the same time, aiming becomes harder the faster you spin, so it’s meant to be a risk-versus-reward mechanic.

Spinning on an office chair was actually the original idea that I built the whole game around, so it’s the core mechanic rather than something added just to fit the jam theme. 😄

There’s also a funny behavior when launching with very low energy where the chair sometimes gets launched instead of the player. It was originally a bug, and I fixed it, but I ended up keeping the original version because I thought it was funnier and created a nice WTF moment.

It probably means I should communicate the effect of the energy more clearly in the game. Thanks again for pointing it out!
