You were actually very close to the end of the game if you needed to dial a number past 6! Be sure you are dragging the mouse up and down to dial and not side to side to move the phone.
I can't seem to recreate the bug but one potential solution is dragging fron down to up to scroll on the wheel backwards to dial the other numbers. Hope this helps!
