Unironically, sometimes I really need such criticism. I agree with everything. Thank you for the honest feedback!

for the lifeform scanner, maybe it should be a major power sink? Currently I’ve only seen lights drain power, and after you get the solars upgrade (I think it still exists? My power generation went from 10 to 16) you can keep all the important lights on 24/7 and as such in the current version batteries are kinda useless

Maybe if the lifeform scanner used like 10 power when active, but worked like the old one (passive scan instead of having to click the button and wait a whole minute) it would be better? The player would be incentivized to keep it disabled to not waste power, but whenever it’s needed it works well but is on a timer before you run out of power

The only major issue I see with that is that currently you can only see the power status in the back of the ship so if say the monster is blocking the doors you wouldn’t know how much power you’re left with

I like this idea. Passive scan is going to be an updagrade for the scanner, but sacrificing your resources for information is a really good point of view on this problem I think.
