A gimmick that I picked up from researching old Arneson games, history, and visiting ArneCon is that he used GUTS instead of Hit Points. I now use it in MANY of my TTRPG designs as well. Occasionally, I find it in other designer’s games as well.

I like that idea! Do you have a url for where this was discussed, I’m curious to learn more about how he used this.

I found it through ArneCon, www.tfott.com, and their Secrets of Blackmoor documentary. I believe that any non-TSR version of Blackmoor might also have examples of the various stats that Arneson used. I have had the pleasure of playing with some of Dave’s original players as well.
