The graphics are top notch. The intro was amazing and really got me to stick around, and the mummy character design looks sick!  I think the text fading perfectly in the intro scene took a little away from the NES vibe, but it doesn't break the immersion.

The gameplay... I think there should have been a button to jump. Not something to replace the grappling mechanic though, because it was good. I just think having the grappling mechanic be the only way to move around might be too much. Swinging on things to climb tiny steps wasn't very fun to me. The movement felt slow and starting all the way at the beginning really took away from the fun there was. I think some tiny adjustments to the gameplay really could fix these issues though.

The game is definitely interesting and the concept was really good. I think given a little bit more time and playtesting this could be an extremely good game.

Thank you for sharing it!

I couldn't figure out how to get the staggered fading in Godot's animation player in time. It's sometimes more work to make things look crappier apparently. 😂

You unlock a jump mechanic in the second level. I agree that things needed a bit more polish though and because of that there are some early difficulty spikes and checkpoints aren't always placed appropriately. Unfortunately, we were still working on some game-breaking things in the last couple of hours, so we simply ran out of time.

Thanks for the great feedback and thanks for playing! :)

AH! I'll need to keep trying then. I kept dying on the first level where you can easily fall. 😭

And as a quick addendum: The mummy gameplay was heavily inspired by one of my favourite NES games of all time, Bionic Commando, which famously did not have a jump button. And as an addendum to my addendum: The now defunct developer studio Grin made a remake of that game called Bionic Commando Rearmed, which is still AMAZING with an absolutele BANGER of a soundtrack. Still well worth playing. :D
