When I designed the job system, I intended for players to apply to new jobs throughout their career instead of just sticking with one. I may encourage this more as I'd like that to be a key way of moving up the career ladder (rather than the whole job application system being one-and-done at the beginning of the game).
I completely agree with your ideas for the home system. I'll give players more visibility of room sizes for available properties and allow players to merge or split existing rooms (at a cost) so they have full freedom to structure things as they please.
Good idea with an option to send a girl straight to the care home or facility. I can include that. Adding more options and activities for immobile characters at home is a priority for me going forward, plus adding support for the blob milestones at home.
What I'm thinking with the cooking minigame is adding some home upgrades that make it much easier. These would take up room slots, but make it very relaxed.
A wealthy family background is an interesting idea. I'd probably add a permanent penalty to skill XP gains to balance the wealth and free university degree (instead of just lower starting skills, which are quite easy to level early on).
I'm definitely planning more home upgrades for blobs, expect to see these relatively soon!
