No matter what I do, the Radicals seem to want my head on a pike by August. Am I missing something, or was the political reality just that terrible?

same, though i'm not surprised that electoral politics is mostly about catering to "centrists" XD
I dont understand why you use past tense, political reality just is that terrible.
Most of our "centrists" are now what they called far right back then.
I was a little bit surprised to see no far right representation in the parliament, it was a different time.
First define centrists, then explain what kind of "alliance between centrists and far right" is out there. And there is a lot more to do before there is any meaningful discussion too.
There has never been any "dictatorship of proletariat", there has only been A dictatorship, which used a narrative to legitimize itself. But it was a dictatorship, period.
idk turn on the news maybe?
just one example of the top of my head, to remain in the topic of France, this week, Macron's ruling coalition, commonly (wrongly) referred to as "centrists", passed a law from (and with) the far right to allow cops to kill people without justification.
I'm happy to dive into definitions but there seems to be a lot you need catching up on and you don't really seem to be talking in good faith lol
There has indeed never been a dictatorship of the proletariat, but we must keep on hoping
you want an example? just look at what's happening in the US. james carville, a democratic strategist under clinton admin, now says that he will quit the democratic party if democratic socialists keep winning primaries. he'd rather ally with trump than support progressive capitalist like abdul el-sayed.
