please release a Mobile Ver🥲🥲
It seems you already have a pretty clear idea on how you're going to continue developing the game in the future, so I'll avoid stuff like an option to turn off futanari content or add more interactive content and other stuff that would require lots of work to remake. To be honest I can only guess how much work it has taken to make as much content as you have until now, and of such high quality. So, I only want to thank you for making such a great game, personally id like more norah and kate content to be added soon, but I guess Ill just have to wait for it to be added. If possible tho, I would really appreciate minigames like what we have now but that have different scenes according to the results. Anyways, thanks for the content so far.
I'm a non-native English speaker and I've always had a question. How do creators on the itch.io community actually make money? Their business model feels really strange. Free games basically mean developers make games just out of passion, pouring tons of their personal time into the work—total selfless enthusiasts. That makes me wonder… are all the creators here just people who are wealthy and have loads of free time?
Well not many creators make money on Itch.io anymore (you can thank Visa/Mastercard for that)
You will notice links to Patreon, SubscribeStar and Steam on here, this is where the revenue comes from, think of Itch as a try before you buy system. Like Wikipedia it is free to use, but they will ask you to make a donations where you can.
For Kal, this is a little different with Starmaker and not sure how much I should say. Basically one of their projects did not workout, Starmaker is kina like a makeup project, to help the developer get back on form and something to play while we wait for Roundscape Eclipse. The game will always be free, but you are more than welcome to make donations via Patreon & SubscribeStar and purchase the game on Steam when it is complete (this will be including an exclusive character, quest and some additional costumes for Anna in the Studio) Though any money made really goes towards Roundscape Eclipse, which is the main project and focus for Arvus Games
To put it simply, nobody is rich far from it, this is pure passion and coffee and the hope is people will throw a coin in the hat every time the monkey dances...
This is exactly the question I mentioned earlier that I was going to post about: are all these game developers already financially free? Because their content is free, there’s no way to communicate with them. Since it’s free, they can do whatever they want—they don’t even have to engage with players. Players don’t matter to them. So personally, I think it would be better if they charged money. At least if they charged, there would be a basis for communication.【This was translated by AI. When I rephrased it myself, it came off sounding a bit too harsh. I just wanna get the general idea across, so please tone it down and make it sound casual for daily chat.】
Keep in mind that there is a discord server you can join and communicate with Kal. Though as he is a solo developer his main focus is on creating games, so he obviously does not have the time or resources to talk to every single person while he is creating. There is no community manager for Arvus Games but the mods feedback everything to Kal so it does not fall on deaf ears. Kal obviously cares about the voice of the players, that is apparent by the number of changes that have been made to the game raised in this thread already. Even if the game was funded by the community during development, there would still be limitations on the time Kal could spend on engaging the player base, it would mainly just increase the scope and functionality of the game. Not forgetting Starmaker is a side project and not the main focus for Arvus Games...
I know… I truly love this game and sincerely hope it can get better. In short, I really wish the creator would push out more updates, but since the game is free, I feel awkward urging updates as a player — it would be really shameless of me to keep pestering for updates for a free game.
For instance, if the game could generate over one million US dollars in revenue, developing it would turn into a full-time career. We’ve discussed so much purely because players are huge fans of this game. Personally speaking, we wouldn’t mind paying for the game at all! This is just my personal thought.
With sufficient motivation, such as ample profits or other driving forces, more goals can be achieved, more staff can be recruited, and this side hustle can become a main business. That’s all I want to express. I have full respect for the creator’s capability and passion for this work. If there were enough manpower and steady high income, the claim that KAL lacks enough time to communicate with players would no longer stand true.
The core problem is that the current revenue cannot sustain smooth development. Besides, updating progress updates never take much time and energy anyway.
SpencerSummer mentioned he wants to support the creator, yet the development progress is always unclear, so he hopes for more frequent communication.I don’t think this is the same as what others said about KAL having limited time for player interaction.
Simply typing a short note like "Current progress: 80%" takes barely any time at all.
This brings us back to the original point. If the game brought in impressive earnings — say ten thousand US dollars per day — you would definitely interact with players every single day, and even be eager to chat with every gamer, wouldn’t he?
(This is AI-translated, so it may not fully convey my exact thoughts. My ultimate wish is for the creator to polish this game into a better work. All players are fully supportive, and we are totally okay with paid versions. That’s all I want to say.)
Very few NSFW developers are brining in that kind of money, sure there are outliers such as HuniePot and some Kagura Games developers. Though even with that type of budget that does not do much for the feedback loop, sure these games have community managers, but the developers are still pretty rock solid about their scope and ambition.
Could Arvus Games join that band of a few, sure Starmaker has the potential as an IP, but throwing money at it is still not going to resolve any issues. Increasing the development resources only works if people with the same focus and ambition join the team. Not to mention upskilling them would require delays in the development cycle. Some of these games only work the way they do because they are one man bands, as soon as you add others into the equation it becomes a mess.
That being said, I have mentioned for a while and I still think Kal taking on Dr.Muramasa full time as a Community Manager/QA/Artist would resolve a lot of these issues with release management, feedback, game quality and the speed of updates.. but who am I to say ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Just seems like a no brainer.
Hello!
I have only 3 questions.
1. Can it be made possible to invite multiple characters to the studio and streams E.g. Ken x Joseph or Ken x Adrian during the final update or afterwards as a possible add-on.
2. More interactions between Ken x Anna e.g. When Anna x Ken have sex for the first time they become flirty or he can touch her ass. I don't know lol.
3. Will there be more gangbang, foursome, threesome and general group sex scenes for Anna?
Hello Dr. Masamune,
I'm a huge fan of Star-Maker Story. I've been playing since version 1.5, and I absolutely love the game! I totally understand that making all these endings takes a lot of time, and I don't mean to blame you at all for the delays. We fans have been checking for updates every day, and we're all dying to play version 1.9, even 2.0. I know you're making this game for free, and we really appreciate that.
Could you please give us at least a rough timeline, like a deadline before June 20th? Even an estimate would give us something to look forward to every day. I've been looking for similar games, but nothing hits quite like yours. I really hope you'll consider this suggestion.
Thank you so much for making such an amazing game!
1 -2) Dr.Muramasa has already stated there will be no more hints on what 1.9 brings, outside of that Anna, Dr. Frost, Dr. Mura, Norah and Alice will receive substantial content and every main character will at least get some good/bad ending content in 1.9
3) The current Starmaker Story will be complete after the Steam release (2.0 with an extra character, related quest and additional costumes for Anna in the Studio.) There will be no more new content after that. Our only hope is a Starmaker spinoff gets selected as the next project after a 6 months break.
Xelus327 might be working on a mod for Futa content after 2.0 is released, but no official feature will be added as it takes away from the narrative and intent of the game.
There are new clothing options for Anna in the Studio with every release. Unless you mean Anna's sprite clothing, mostly like more to come but will be limited to events.
