An important first step is to find a way to toggle the light off without the moth being stuck against a wall. Note that the snow is not actually needed for any buttons, so don't worry about making it unrecoverable.

Once you've found an answer to the first hint, you might encounter an issue where you accidently attract the moth too early. Is there another similar location you could use to toggle that would not have this issue? Note that the moth being stuck against a wall is a problem when you need to push it but could be fine if you just want to turn the light off briefly for an intermediate step.
