I just wanted to rekindle to the conversation Dino Nuggets In Spacea attempted to start a month ago:

I know this book is nowhere near done but I do very much hope that by the end we're able to import our saves from the previous book instead of relying on making vague choices pertaining to our behavior in the first one to set the narrative here in in this one- I have problems with memory loss you see, and I know for a fact that I will not remember my previous choices and such if it really does stay this way for the completion of this book 💔
Not complaining btw! Just voicing a concern due to a disability"

I find the idea most excellent.
I am not sure if you are aware how to make the books so that a save from the end of the Book 1 can be exported to be then imported at the begin of Book 2 allowing seamless character progression and plot continuation (no need for recap or choice picker). So, a great example of this (though not perfect) can be found in the Superstition series by 13Leagues:

Applying this to your work would make jumping from book one to book two so much easier for, at least, us readers if not for you too, and it would help with consistency and immersion. I believe your work would benefit greatly from it, especially if there is going to be more than two books...which seems very likely (and which we all I assume are cheering for) considering all the delicious mysterious entanglements revealed so far.
If you are interested in the idea, but wary of the coding, I can try to make myself useful and help where needed. I'm not an expert by any means, but I have some experience dabbling with Twine/Sugarcube.
I love the story (and Kestrel) and will continue to read regardless. However, if there is going to be more books, I will probably sooner or later end up attempting the coding for personal use anyway just to make my character and story line feel consistent...so might as well, help to provide it for all audience.
Let me know what you think.
