There were 3 total screens I had to make for this, each took me about 50 lines of code, and the game code itself is basically just show screen hide screen return. I think I would like to implement these mechanics into a bigger visual novel some day, and that is why I'm trying to learn as much about renpy as I can. I want to make a visual novel with various minigames in it. Gamejams are the perfect place for me to experiment :)
After this, I am planning to learn other engines regardless, but I do think I will keep returning to renpy since I don't exactly think I need all the extra stuff some of the other engines offer, and so they can actually slow down my visual novel projects instead of being helpful :/
Thanks for being so encouraging! I've encountered some negativity about my use of renpy since starting this hobby
