shit i didn't know what you meant bc i first played his route but right now i play bash's and i wish i didn't eavesdrop, their scene kinda broke my heart a bit. now i'm like " what should i do" in damon's route there haven't been any romantic feelings for a long time and in all other route's and parallel universes he's madly in love with her and she too. :((

Well, isn't it kinda common thing for side characters to form their own relationships throughout the game? It makes game richier and somehow more lifelike? If you want to persue some certain character - ok, but otherwise let them live their own life and be happy ;)) I think, it's much more cooler than when all the characters are sadly in love with the MC, even in non-romanceable routes.

I mean, I'm looking forward to find out who else might be mashed on whom (Bash and Ry, for example).

I don't get why it has to be more lifelike. If you have a char be in love with someone in 7 out of 8 routes (6 chars, Vexx and No romance ) then that's canon. Your MC's romance just starts feeling more like headcanon, not sure I'm explaining it right. I don't like side romances with love interests, feels like MC is breaking them apart.

Also, it's one thing to have things develop with people you're not romancing in one route, and another to have  different backgrounds depending on your choice. Like in Damon's route, if you're romancing him, he's just friends with Alisa and the past is past but if you aren't romancing him he is totally in love with her. Background should stay consistent between routes, I think.

yeah I agree with that. Personally I don’t have anything against when ppl that aren’t in my route find a love interest throughout the story.  I don’t like the idea of them being hopeless in love with the mc,  just like annamatoe said. But just like you said, when their whole past and feelings towards another person changes and is like that in all routes/universes just in the one you play the specific characters route it’s not like this, it feels as if your route isn’t really canon. So in case of Damon I’d have preferred that in the other routes he's cool with her too like when I play his route and then maybe them falling in love throughout or at the end of the story (when i play other routes then damon's) if the mc helps or smth like this, instead of getting to realize that she’s basically his soulmate in all routes apart from his own and that they're madly in love and would probably even get together this instant if it wasn't for the circumstances. And this makes me feel like I’m the intruder. 🙈

Well, to each their own, I guess, bcs I like such side-stories. I've never felt about it bad or like I'm splitting some couple. Maybe exactly because of those changes in background, which allow you not to feel guilty. These details in characters' lives and their past make the story more natural for me. I personally less like stories where all ROs are just some stereotypical superficial things with no background whatsoever, who are all from the very beginning head over heels with the MC, no matter if you persue their routes or not.
P.S.: for me it is strange to be so opposed to the idea of side routes for ROs. Like, yeah, I'm not interested in your route, but you can't want anyone else. ???

Hey, it is even opposite for me, I have trouble to pursue other romance route when I know that my previous interest would stay lonely and sad that MC rejected them :D. Like in Ascension by Rinmaru, i was really courious of other romance routes but never tried them because ZANDER IS WATCHING and I just cannot :<. But I am not sure how I feel about Daelyssa...I see the point that routes should be consistent, but I also like diversity, the more different stories are to discover the better for me. In my personal, really personal opinion I would love to see Daelyssa romance on Daemon route and my head canon would be loving polyamorious triad ;)

This is why I usually prfer it when the romance options don't have side loves when you don't romance them. Feels like you're breaking some apart and feels like a little less canon.

Feels a bit like that with Ryona x Bash, I hope they don't elaborate too much on it or their routes might start feeling a little out of place too.

I get having a background and making the game feel "alive", but I'd rather not have my character's love interest be in love with someone else in all other routes (makes it feel canon and MC's route kinda... make believe).

I kinda figured that Damon and Alisa being viewed platonic in Damon's route was for the comfort of people who would rather focus on romancing Damon than the idea of Damon ever having been with anyone previously, or some past flame appearing out of nowhere to cause drama.

I don't think it'd make it less canon that Damon and Alisa happen to be into each other in every other route and not Damon's route, because isn't it just a part of life to have that "what if" relationship play out in every other scenario than the one that's currently happening in 'Canon'?

That's only my thoughts on it though, I understand that not everyone's going to be comfortable about the whole side character possible romance subplot happening in the background.

it usually reads to me like the MC would be their first choice and the other LI their second one. I mean if you think about it in the LI’s route They can choose to pursue MC Or their other LI and they choose MC. Personally I got the vibe that Damon and Alisa got more of a sibling type relationship, even the game mentioned that their ship sank a loooong time ago so I’m not too worried.
