I like the 1-bit aesthetic and visual minimalism. Everything read clearly and the mechanics were intuitive. With that said, I found myself waiting, expecting  a new mechanic, a different enemy type, additional enemies,  or some kind of twist, but after the first minute of gameplay it seems like you've experienced the entire game.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback! The game is in serious need for expanded mechanics, hopefully I get the time to add it in the future.

What I Loved:

The simple design and it putting you straight into the thick of it was a really good choice made you get what the game was going for fast and made me get into the zone of very quick.

The artstyle was very simple but I think it didn't need to be anything more.

The music was groovy, I played long enough that the music stopped, lol.

I am very glad you added a pause because I was at 600,000 highscore and had to leave my desk for 5 minutes and didn't want to lose my streak, thank you!

What needs Improvement:

I wish there was more to the game maybe like upgrade you can pick up that give you 3 choices of what to get like a rouge-like, or even something simpler like a powerup that changes your ship into fast one with more control but it takes 3 shots to kill or something slower but you shoot wider bullets that can pass through 2 or 3 enemies

This was a very good arcade shooter! Good Game!

Damn, I only managed to get a score of 222,000, so I guess you beat me at my own game. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. Will definitely try to make time to improve upon it.

this had me STRESSIN but like in a good way? I felt like yelling every time I got cornered, so I guess that means I was very involved emotionally lmao
this would be very fun with some shooting upgrades and bigger enemies etc, so it would be lovely to see this game being continued after the jam! great work!

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, it definitely needs expanded mechanics, hopefully I will get the time to to do so.

Loved the music and this overall game play. Sometimes when I am at the edges, the enemies spawn behind me and I lose a life which feels a bit off. But overall a nice game.

holy crap, the game's music is so damn groovy and memorable; it adds so much to this game! i love games with crunchy pixel art styles such as this. the player ship is difficult to control, but i'm 90% sure that's just because i'm bad at the game lol. however, the player ship feels awesome to control when you do get the hang of it. further development for enemies and controls to this game would do wonders for it

Thank you so much for the feedback, really glad you liked the music!  I added the soundtrack as a download on the game page if you want it :)

Hopefully I get the time to refine the game in the future.

Nice little shooter, the controls felt very smooth.  Asteroids but less floaty, overall pretty good!
