How does your game fit the theme?
You have to be carful of how much time you spend outside the safe air boxes or you will die from smoke inhalation

Quite a cool concept! The idea of managing your air when exploring causes every area of gameplay to turn into a speedrun and that’s really exciting. The video pitch for this game was quite good and one of the better pitches I’ve seen from this game jam. The movement and level design itself is very fun and engaging too and I quite enjoyed flying across the spikes in ways similar to games like Hollow Knight. However, the rest of the game’s execution of this concept has a few design issues. I think checkpoints for a game like this is a must. It can be really disheartening to lose all of your progress and backtrack through the areas. Especially because the player can struggle to run a route only to learn that the route is blocked and they need to go somewhere else. Secondly, smoke not killing the player instantly and instead making it so that the player loses a bar of air is a little weird. It makes it so the game needs an inverse challenge progression because as the player explores more of the game, they will end up having less and less resources to overcome the difficult challenges. If the levels are not designed in this way, players are then encouraged to restart the game after losing a couple points in their oxygen because they know they won’t have enough to clear the next challenges.
As for the art and audio design, the music and sound effects sounded good. The music track never felt repetitive or annoying which I appreciate. The art could definitely be better with more effects and fixes made to the tiling of the smoke, but I imagine you were probably more focused on gameplay rather than the artwork and that’s a smart call to make for a game like this.
Overall cool game and the game name made me chuckle!
Thank you! I intend on making it into a full game eventually so all feedback is super helpful!
Game feels nice to play!
The mechanics are smooth and it's definitely fun to play but the breath mechanic while interesting needs a little fine-tuning
I think it's genuinely has potential, I think it would be nice to give a bit more time between breaths or maybe a bit closer breathing spaces. Also it would be nice to add a bit of visual effect on hitting the enemy, like coloring them red, to indicate that they could be damaged. On the first enemy encounter I though that attack only pushed away those enemies with no damage as the sound was more like sword hitting the rock. (btw for some reason the game and the game page didn't fit into a screen on a smaller laptop)
I think the background audio is much louder than the breathing. If I were to prioritize the sounds, in my opinion, the breathing is more important because it adds this feeling of suffocation, which makes you "hurry" to reach the finish line.
And I agree with the other comments that the game is smooth.
Yes, Smooth gameplay and satisfying large player character. A little difficult at times but satisfying overall.
Smooth gameplay and controls, good job on making it run smoothly and feeling polished though for some reason I REALLY suck at this game. Good job!
The guy should really bring better masks. 5 star no drama
he had a really good mask, but then he cut an eye hole so he could see better.
the movement and combat feel really smooth and nice to play, and the game is fun. the title really explains this game as well so theres an added bonus.
I like the art stile.
Asthma simulator
Really smooth movement, and I think the concise and easily-pronouncable nature of the name really helps sell the game.
Fun game! the art and music weren't insane or anything but they filled their part well, and the gameplay was fun and smooth.
Thanks.
This played really well, great job!
Thank you.
Good game idea executed well. stressed me the hell out.
Yeah I may have made it a bit on the difficult side.
