Allow downloading files without a target platform

Apparently a fair share of games around here are for windows only (barring wine and the likes) despite not being marked as so
It just happens that those devs don't really use the target platform thing and I can't seemingly play such unmarked games on the desktop app

So I'd like a way to download those unmarked files (or just plain ignore the target platform thing)

And yes virus scanner is off for me (don't think that's relevant tho)

My interpretation is that itch.io has tons of products that are just PDFs, WAV files, 3d models, whatever. When a download file is not marked with a target platform, it might be very hard to impossible if the thing even can run.

You might want to try and point the missing metadata out to the game devs themselves. Having correct metadata is in their best interest, after all.

In the meantime, you can just download the files through the web interface instead of the desktop app.

Not exactly convinced by non-executable assets being an issue since app can just open the folder if that's the case

I'd like to have the app manage updates instead of checking them myself

I don't like this, because it legitimizes not correctly marking platforms on the part of the developer.  If you see an incorrectly marked game, report it!

Itch could also do a better job of catching incorrectly marked games.  If it contains a .exe file, it's probably a Windows download even if the developer didn't mark it as such (although it could also be a DOS download).

There's a big share of things (game or not) that aren't executables (e.g. PDFs) which don't fall under the current win/mac/linux/android classification

I'd argue that allowing downloads of unmarked platforms in browser already counts as legitimizing incorrect platform marking (and if that is an issue itch should have forced platform marking w/ an "others" option included too)
