I've thought it over, and I think the safest way forward might be to have a short scene of a couple of sentences at the end of the pregnancy, stating that the birth was a success, and it's been agreed that your son/daughter will be raised by their grandparents. Then they are never mentioned again, and the game carries on as normal.
Ultimately, Second Helpings is an erotic fetish game & I don't want children (or anyone under the age of 18) anywhere near that.
I don't see why have the option to have kids if you don't get to rise them in anyway. I not one of the peeps who wanted the sex & pregnancy update, I was down for the Personality & the Jobs update.
but I feel if you going to have an update to make sex more meaningful than the act of having a child & being able to rise them into adulthood would be the most fulling thing too those who want to roll play a happily ever after with their in-game wife.
Cause other wise just rollover the sex mini game over into the personality update as a way to enhance interactability with the women at that point.
I completely get what you're saying, as it would make sense from a life simulation aspect. But my intent behind adding pregnancy was just to satisfy the breeding & pregnancy kinks, which are about the act of impregnation and the transformation of the body from pregnancy, respectively.
Pregnancy will be off by default and something players opt into when starting a new game. The good news is that if the sex update doesn't end up taking me too long, then I'll be able to get started working on the Personality update sooner.
Save and consensual sex only! - Would be the savest thing to do.

As a dev i would not offer the theme in question at all, exactly bacause of the "age" restrictions you mentioned. If the update would be called "Improved Sex" only that would be perfectly fine and reasonable.
The game has so much things to offer:
Enjoy the food! Indulge! Date multiple characters at multiple locations! Have Girlfriends! Marriage! Differnt Jobs! Sculpt Bodies! Fatness and Fitness! Fun at your sweet home! Have fun at the beach! Watch a movie! Eating competitions! Travel to other towns! Have Save and Consensual sex!
.... the list goes on and on.
Thus: Most ppl could get over not having pregnancy. If someone exclusively follows that specific fetish the game might not be for them.
If added, pregnancy shoud absoluteley be toggleable. Even if enabeld there should be another switch in settings between save sex and try for impregnation.
To be clear: i will not even enable pregnancy for testing purposes. I am not into the theme at all.
