March 2026 update: I started this thread in September 2025 to share a demo of my Bitsy game Scavenger Suite. The full game is now finished, you can play it here

Scavenger Suite is an exploration/story game where you play as a human and dog wandering a desolate countryside. I was inspired by games like The Last of Us, The Long Dark, and Everybody's Gone to the Rapture. Extensive documentation, walkthroughs, spoilers etc are linked on the game page.

I very much appreciate the feedback I received here from those who played the demo. It went a long way and encouraged me to make the game the best it could be. This has been my passion project for the last year or so, and I’m always glad to hear if someone connects to it. Thank you!

If you enjoy the game or encounter any issues, please let me know! I’m particularly interested to hear if anyone has difficulty with the color palettes. I would like to make a high-contrast or colorblind-friendly version of the game available, and am trying to learn best practices with a game of this kind.

Well done job here! I sure enjoy some exploration game, and the switching avatars makes this one quite fun.
Maybe you should consider adding some music for different areas. Really nice overview effect

Thanks so much for trying it out! The final version will have music throughout, which will hopefully enhance the atmosphere a lot. Think acoustic/instrumental, relaxing, slightly eerie. :)

Wow, that was amazing!

I loved the art style, so much details and texture. You've painted a very lively world. I was very impressed with the numerous tricks you've pulled with subtle scenes and avatar changes and how organically they felt, making the story more detailed and believable. It's using Bytsy to tell stories and explore worlds on a whole new level for me, and I will definitely look to it as an inspiration for my own games.

Great job, looking forward to play the full version of your game!

Thank you so much, that is high praise! I have seen so many beautiful Bitsy games that it’s made me a bit self-conscious of my own pixel art, so it’s very encouraging to see that you liked the art style. Thank you for noticing the little details; that’s exactly what I was hoping to achieve with the avatar/scene changes. I appreciate your feedback!

I really liked this! So many cool tricks to make the world feel in depth - I loved the point of view changes between the map/overworld and the exploration places. The avatar and room changes were really clever, especially the trick you used to make the character 'push' the wheelbarrow - felt really smooth and natural! The use of colours and art were really nice also. Definitely look forward to a full version!

Thank you so much! I'm enjoying exploring avatar dynamics with this game, and am working on more little surprises in the full version. I'm glad the changes feel smooth, that's definitely what I'm going for. Thank you for checking it out and for the feedback!

Just added an update to the top of this thread: the full version of Scavenger Suite is out now! Thank you so much to everyone who played the demo and offered feedback!
