Adding Alternative Payment Methods next to FORCED PAYPAL REGISTER

Some time ago, the drama with Payment Processors was happening, which caused the itch.io to remove the option to pay directly with card for some games. Now, there is no other alternative then PAYPAL, that forces you to register an account and you can't continue without it.

I am (and i believe others too) willing to pay even more, just to not be forced to go through specific anti-consumer payment method (paypal). If there is no other option than this.. then sadly.. some of us won't purchase any game on itch anymore :(

There are alternatives to use. Yes, it would take some time to implement it.. however.. now.. when there is no other alternative to paypal.. they are able to do EVERYTHING they want.. because no one can say a thing.. because they have no other options.

Could you please add PaysafeCard as an alternative payment method? Yes.. it can be bigger "struggle" to go physically to the store and purchase a paysafecard.. however it is still better then paypal.

Other alternatives could be direct bank connection.. and yes.. itch.io would be unable to receive the payment instantly.. however i would be willing to just wait for a week, or so.. and then receiving my purchased game, after they received the payment and it is verified. This is a topic on it's own.

The other alternative is crypto. If you have some other suggestions, you can mention them bellow! :)

I really love itch.io. I really love indie developers. I am very sad i am unable to support you or developers via this platform in any way. If nothing changes.. and no other alternative payment method will be added.. sadly, no other purchase will be done via this platform. Sorry:(

Additional payment options sure would be nice.

They could change revenue share for projects that accept other payment options. Industry standard is 30%. You can offer other payment options with that. Itch's share is 10% default and some people lower it further, yet scream loudly when something does not work properly, takes longer or features are missing that the big players like Steam have.

Unfortunately, there are not that many options for low cost payment options. Crypto is not low cost. International money orders are not low cost. And since Itch does not have a wallet system, those paysafecards are not an option. As far as I know you cannot refund transactions paid by paysafecards - not onto the paysafecard. But it would be possible to refund it onto a shop's wallet.

A Itch wallet would solve some problems, but Itch's account security is ... not optimal. It's a combination of site security and other things. But Itch accounts are faked and hacked right and left. If there were wallets on the accounts, that would make this problem even bigger, as the hackers could make money directly. If Itch manages to clean up this mess, a wallet would solve a lot of problems. For perspective, I have seen literally hundreds of hacked accounts that were used to spread malware.

An external wallet would do. Paypal is such a service. Now we only need alternatives that offer similar functions, but without the things people hate about paypal. And Itch supporting those alternatives.

Don't know about other countries, but here in Sweden we have a thing called "Swish" that we can pay with, having that become an option to pay to Itch.io, and then have them send the money to the developer after taking their cut would be a fantastic alternative, it uses phone numbers though so Itch would have to set up a company phone number with Swish linked to a bank account that Swish can send the money to so they can receive payment. One of the upsides with Swish is that it is pretty much instantaneous. If other countries have similar than I imagine using services like this could be a very good alternative payment method, if tedious to set up for Itch.io
