Some time ago, the drama with Payment Processors was happening, which caused the itch.io to remove the option to pay directly with card for some games. Now, there is no other alternative then PAYPAL, that forces you to register an account and you can't continue without it.
I am (and i believe others too) willing to pay even more, just to not be forced to go through specific anti-consumer payment method (paypal). If there is no other option than this.. then sadly.. some of us won't purchase any game on itch anymore :(
There are alternatives to use. Yes, it would take some time to implement it.. however.. now.. when there is no other alternative to paypal.. they are able to do EVERYTHING they want.. because no one can say a thing.. because they have no other options.
Could you please add PaysafeCard as an alternative payment method? Yes.. it can be bigger "struggle" to go physically to the store and purchase a paysafecard.. however it is still better then paypal.
Other alternatives could be direct bank connection.. and yes.. itch.io would be unable to receive the payment instantly.. however i would be willing to just wait for a week, or so.. and then receiving my purchased game, after they received the payment and it is verified. This is a topic on it's own.
The other alternative is crypto. If you have some other suggestions, you can mention them bellow! :)
I really love itch.io. I really love indie developers. I am very sad i am unable to support you or developers via this platform in any way. If nothing changes.. and no other alternative payment method will be added.. sadly, no other purchase will be done via this platform. Sorry:(
