Dude they're doing it for automatic publicity because they'll always be at the top of the list so everyone will see them. I mean, yes it isn't that deep, but it still is a mean thing to do. The dev also uploaded the placeholder just an hour after the jam started, so they probably wanted a bigger chance of being seen because they were a bit late to the jam.

Just saying that it isnt very smart to do this because youll be stuck at the bottom and the list doesnt work the way you think, i was never trying to bully anyone. Also my comment is actually true because itch.io does work the way i said.
