I'm not reading all that, but I'm enjoying this. The "view previous cards" button causes an error though.

Developer

Yeah I figured out the reason for that error and resolved it on my end. The fix will be there in the next upload.
Thanks a lot for playing. Happy you enjoyed it.

Cool deck building game! I love how you've polished your UI, the feedback every actions provides is satisfying. The action cooldown reminded me of my old days of World of Warcraft. You try to look at applying a color palette for your game that would greatly increase the visual appeal of it. There were also a couple of texture that you could improve (I'm thinking especially at the closing button).

But overall, this is an impressive undertaking, thanks for making that game!

Developer

Yeah, using a color palette would help with the visuals. Appreciate the suggestion.
Thanks a lot for playing and for your feedback. I'll surely work on improving the game.

Hello Kid Chaos,

Here I am :D
First of all, I would like to say that the BGM is awesome. It has a strong medieval vibe, and at times it really brings me back to when I was playing Gwent in The Witcher 3. I can imagine the game having the potential to be expanded into a combination of an adventure RPG and a roguelike experience.

I believe some aspects of the design in this version of your game may be influenced by the restrictions of the 20-second game jam. With that in mind, I would like to share a few thoughts on this version, purely for your reference:

(1) Card Selection:
Similar to Caby’s opinion, as a player, I feel that the optimal approach is simply to select all cards as quickly as possible and prioritize using the high-star cards.

If you plan to add more strategic elements in future versions, you might consider introducing some form of limited resources. This could encourage players to think more carefully when selecting cards, or alternatively, make the disadvantages of each card more apparent.

(2) Card Appearance:
For the card backgrounds, slightly reducing the saturation could help the text stand out more clearly. Regarding the card overview page, in future versions, having a filter or sorting function would be very helpful from a player’s perspective.

Overall, I really enjoyed the experience and look forward to seeing how the game evolves in future versions. :D

Happy to hear that you enjoyed the game and liked the music. The medieval vibe was exactly what I was going for.
As you said, most of the game design choices I made was because of the 20s jam theme. The inspiration for this game was Slay The Spire, so eventually I would like to have some limitations for the selection, cards to be more balanced and the synergy between the cards to be basis for selection. And I agree about the card appearance...tbh art and UI is the part I'm weakest at. I'll definitely try to improve the visuals in the updated version and also add more filter options to the cards overview.

Thanks a lot for playing and for your feedback. I'll surely work on making improvements to the game in the future.

Cool deck builder game. I had fun thinking which cards to pick to get higher power, having a button to view all cards before playing was a great idea.

Maybe giving some cards a higher negative effect would incentivize the player to reject more cards, since I feel that most of the time I selected every card and my power and speed were not affected that much.

It was satisfying to beat the boss :) Good game!

Developer

Yeah,  initially that was the plan. But the only reason I didn't give cards too much of a debuff was because of the time limit so that beating the boss ain't too difficult (atleast for this jam). Still there's a chance you can end up with low speed if you blindly select cards.

Thanks a lot for playing. Will surely work on balancing the game and adding more polish to it.
