How does your submission fit the jam's theme?
the game is based loosely on ninja turtles - my favorite cartoon when I was very young (and you collect vhs tapes! turtle tapes!) and those weird old game shows like legends of the hidden temple. It also has a powerglove like thing which is something I've only seen in commercials / ads.

Extremely high quality submission- had a lot of fun playing through this one. Felt very Doom-esque with how the enemies behaved and just how good blasting with the glove felt. That thing eats through batteries like crazy, so the choice to have the pickups respawn was a good one as it ended up being pretty challenging towards the end. Thought the music could've been punched up a bit more, but other than that everything was solid!

This has incredibly strong visuals and environment design. The first person animations for reloading and healing were a nice touch. I got a little lost in the first room before I got my bearings but after that I didn't have any trouble. I didn't really use the back-tracking gates that opened as you explored, but I'm glad they were there. I think the tapes were pretty well hidden without being too difficult or easy, as well as being pretty funny with the cover art and descriptions. The enemy designs tying into the tapes was also cool. The designs were great on their own, but the added context about the Turtles' lore made me appreciate some of the little details more.

I definitely had my fill of the combat by the end, though, since it's easy to aggro lots of enemies at once and get overwhelmed, especially if you run out of power for the glove. I definitely learned to take out enemies from a distance to more easily avoid that scenario. The primary attack feels weak, and the charge attack has a long charge before it shoots the projectile, making it hard to aim while staying mobile to avoid projectiles. I wouldn't say it felt frustrating, though, since there wasn't really any penalty for dying thanks to the check point system. It's possible to get a negative number of batteries if you die while reloading, but that was the only bug I encountered.

I think I really learned a lot about safety from playing this game. Thank you, Middle Aged Man-Like Safety Awareness Turtles. Really nice job!

Very well made, very impressive you made this in a week!

Totally tubular game dude!

Looks incredible, the humor is on point and while it was a bit difficult at the start, when you get the hang of hitting the enemies on their weak points and the reload timing, the combat flows well. Had to wander a bit to find the last tape.

This look pretty well made, the visuals, sound design and art direction is awesome, but my God the difficulty is so bullshit, I wish there was a way to upgrade the weapon or at least the enemies didn't take too long to kill, but that might a skill issue of mine.

How do you only have 4 reviews as of writing this? This is my  pick for underrated gem of the jam! How many of the assets did you make yourself? they all blend really well. runs really smooth and looks nice allround (also, going to have to come back to finish it at some point)

Glad you liked it! I would guess no web build makes it a bit of a hassle to try quickly.  The assets aside from some source stuff (like photos used as a layer in the textures, audio samples, that kind of thing, details are in the credits) were all made for the jam during the week.

Highly impressed, especially with the player's hand rig!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! :D The hand rig is custom-made for the jam! I did use an old version of Auto Rig Pro for the pig and robot.  Not the auto-rig part, just limb modules and the export button, since Blender to Unreal exports are super shaky.

I'll have to look into it since I also work blender to unreal. I used rigify rigs. does auto rig work for those?

Developer(+1)

I think not really, but maybe it would work if you you marked all of the deform bones in your Rigify rig as custom bones for the ARP exporter.

Incredibly well made, amazing visuals, i loved the music it kinda reminded me of banjo kazooie for some reason, fun gameplay too. Really solid entry! My only gripe is that it was a bit tedious to find all 5 tapes but its a small nitpick

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

thanks! I didn't realize the tapes would be tedious to find... this has happened to me before so I should have known lol
