Came here from the recent Icely Puzzles video, good game, amazing concept, could definitely be expanded to a full on game given time (and probably a lot of effort too, making sure all interpretations are accounted for). Having to do some rules lawyering shenanigans is very fun as a gameplay mechanic, especially with the “sets of options” style of choose your own adventure. There was only one case where I was disappointed because I thought up a solution that was unaccounted for, but looking at the comments, there’s definitely a lot more ways you could interpret things. I was upset that the solution in the kitchen didn’t involve what the king said about “You may not leave the castle until another command is given”, combined with attempting to pick him up making him yell “DON’T TOUCH ME!”, which would count as a command and allow you to leave.

(Edit: adding on to this, it doesn’t specify WHO has to give the command. You could theoretically command yourself, or maybe annoy the princess some more for it. That one line is glossed over completely, but there’s definitely some shenanigans to be had.)

(Edit 2: alternatively, just pick up the stone engraving in the tower, and bash the old man in the head before even touching the sword! Problem solved! (Game dev wise, it would probably just be a “Why the hell would I do that?” Moment.)

Thanks for playing! Yeah, would be cool to add more freedom to interpretation to the player, since for now there's only one solution to every puzzle.

...you know? that gave me an idea. Would be cool to make the game with different story branches/endings based on which loophole you find.

Yeah, I think one of the other posts mentioned giving and taking away the princess from the evil mage so that he could “have her hand”, but not keep it. Could possibly lead to a more peaceful route combined with being able to leave the castle after being given another command, but then you would have to plan for every possible route and variant that the player could make, and it would get messy fast. I feel like multiple solutions leading to the same outcome would be the better approach to avoid the headaches, but I’m not the dev, so I can’t say much. If this is gonna be a full thing, you would already have enough on your plate with attempting to cover every solution and action, and (ironically) making them immune to loopholes. adding more routes would probably only make that worse. Feel free if you’re up to it though, I’m not your boss lol.
