Played through it. really funny because I had a similar-ish idea for a game like this. Very similar visual design but more dungeon explorer-y. Anyways your game.

I think it has pretty good bones. But some things I think could be fleshed out more. The combat I feel is the weakest point. I don't like the way that it's RNG who's turn it is. It felt tiresome to watch the dice roll just to decide who attacks and feels worse when it doesn't land on you. I would prefer a turn-based approach. I think that can introduce speed as a concept to turns also so you could get 2 turns in a row by upgrading your speed stat.

Also I think the player is a bit bland. But of course, it's a  prototype but that is something that I would want is a stats mechanic that allows me to augment the player in some way. I think right now it's basically all RNG and doesn't really feel like I'm playing more like I'm watching. I would like some decisions so I can be a more active participant. I think stats would be a good way to go about it.

Obviously money is a big thing, I don't know if I didn't understand how to spend it but it felt kind of pointless at the moment. I'm thinking that it's there just to show the concept that money is a concept and that can be something to implement. I definitely think a shop would be cool as another way to augment the player. Buying armor or weapons and health potions of course.

Overall, I think cool concept, but definitely the combat needs a lot more work to make it not just RNG. Would like to see that overhauled first and see what ideas you bring to that. Solid idea though I think.

also here is the beginning concept of my idea. I just started with the dice so I haven't really gotten too far into the project. but funny that we both had his idea around the same time

Hey!

For sure, those points are all valid. The most abundant feedback has been that the randomness doesn't work well and that it takes control away from the player. I have a ton of ideas on how to address that.

As for the player character, the idea would be to have classes, armor and weapon systems with visuals. Mage, warrior and ranger, with subclasses that further expand the idea. I'd like to have magic, potions and a bunch of stuff tied to combat.

And yes, shops and such are planned for the cash systems.

The main idea is to also make it a deckbuilder, which would create a whole different dimension to this.

Thanks for trying it out! Let me know when yours is playable!
