The CG images in Starmaker Story are too small. I hope the developers and players see this and come in to discuss.

Hi, development team/author, sorry to bother you. I'm one of your players, and I'd like to sincerely provide feedback on an issue regarding the CG display size, hoping it can improve the overall gaming experience. To briefly explain my actual observations and measurements (I tested on a 32-inch 16:9 monitor): My monitor's physical dimensions are approximately 70.85 cm wide and 39.85 cm high. The measured size of that middle CG in full-screen mode is as follows— • 1920×1080 (1080p): CG approx. 547 × 535 px → approx. 20.18 cm × 19.74 cm (width ratio 28.49%, height ratio 49.54%, area approx. 14.12%) • 2560×1440 (1440p): CG approx. 729 × 713 px → approx. 20.17 cm × 19.74 cm (width ratio 28.48%, height ratio 49.51%, area approx. 14.11%) In conclusion: Whether in 1080p or 1440p, this CG only occupies about 14% of the screen area, with width less than 30% and height less than 50%. From my personal perspective, CG should be the focal point that attracts players' attention and presents emotional or visual climaxes, but the current size is too small, making many details (like facial expressions, clothing textures, scene details) hard to see clearly, which weakens the impact and immersion at that moment. Since this game is really well-made, it's truly a shame that the small CG size detracts from the experience. I've played many similar games (like Love & Sex Second Base, many RPG Maker MV works, and some Japanese games), and over 80% of them support full-screen CG, with players usually expecting to zoom in and view the images. I sincerely hope you can consider allowing CG to be enlarged or support full-screen display, so that everyone can more clearly appreciate the illustrations you've carefully drawn, which would greatly enhance the overall game experience. Thank you for your hard work and dedication!

Additionally, to add on, the overall screen area of this CG is actually only about 14%, meaning that over 80% of the entire screen space is not the main image. Visually, it makes people feel that the subject is too small and the focus is not prominent enough. If the display ratio of the CG can be increased, the effect will definitely be more impactful.

"85.89% of the screen is occupied by non-CG elements, leaving only 14.11% for the CG."

Kane, please stop reposting this everywhere. One thing is advising you would like bigger cgs or an option to do them full screen, another one is just keep reposting the same in multiple posts/channels + the discord channel, your concern is known, there is no plans to make the change. Stop reposting or I'll have to delete the other posts.

@Dr.Muramasa
Hi, author/team, I've seen your reply, and I'll stop reposting. Sorry for the trouble caused. Additional explanation: The previous reply on Discord was posted by a non-developer who helps manage Discord. He/she is not involved in development and does not represent the author's position or clearly state whether the author has seen my previous posts. The purpose of this post is to promote rational discussion between the author and players—this feedback also represents the feelings of quite a few players: The middle CG occupies about 14% (non-CG about 86%), the visual focus is too small, details are hard to see clearly, which affects the expressiveness of that segment. I'm not trying to force the author to make changes, I just sincerely hope the author can see, value, and consider these players' voices. Thank you again for your hard work.

Dude the CGs are pixelated to fuck as they are, having them Fullscreen will cause brain damage

All so not mentioning manually replacing 200 + images is a massive chore because it involves the tedious and error-prone process of individually locating each existing image element within the game's hierarchy and manually assigning the new, redacted source image to each one. It is never happening 😅

Good afternoon,
I was the one who replied to you on Discord. While not heavily involved, I am indeed involved in the project and run suggestions and such by the main and only developer. Once again, I'll answer to you, and this will be the last time I do so, as a courtesy.

No, this kind of rework will NOT be done, is not just something that is not really needed but also the game is too close to be done for "big reworks" to be done to it. Right now, important things like more content, new minigames, reworks of old cgs as well as old places and fixing of bugs and QoL improvements are being done.

To me, the size isn't really an issue, that's fine, what does get to me a bit is the images (both CG and many of the character "sprites") look like they were scaled down from a larger resolution image, resulting in a lot of the non-aliased lines on the images missing pixels because the new image sizes do not have enough pixels to display the line(s) fully, especially noticeable on diagonal lines/details.

Something that is a common issue when you work in image editing software like Photoshop and scale down images without anti-aliasing on or not drawing the images originally at the needed resolution, even though this happens with anti-aliasing on too, it just generally takes a little more before it becomes noticeable.

I recently noticed this especially, since I've made a personal mod of Phoenix that edits her pants. Ever since I've seen it, I can't unsee it now. Lol. Here is an image of what I mean. (Not hating the developer, I do apologize if it comes across as that)

Left is the original image, right is the redrawn image (I just redrew it in black instead of a slightly lighter color), notice the look of the outlines in the original image.

Larger size (for ease of viewing)

While this would be a nice to have. I would personally like to see Kal focus on new content and fixing ongoing issues like the second picture instantly vanishing in the kitchen etc. Maybe this is something he can put effort into on image redo's, but again sounds like a massive time sink to refactor every single CG

Totally agree with you, if anything, while this doesn't look particularly good, it is something that can be fixed relatively easily without breaking the game, though it is time consuming.

it is fine to express ideas and concerns, no offense taken and doesn't come out as rude. Those details and other things are one of the reasons behind the cgs rework thats being done each version.
