Note: It took some time for me to get back around to finishing comments on the jam games. Pardon the late comment!

The game is extremely good all around! The pixel style reminds me somewhat of an RPG-themed Kirby boss, and the music adds to that in a fun way. Sanae's own commentary was a cute addition as well.

The gameplay itself takes a moment to figure out - and then gets good with trying to entertain the player. I really liked the idea of essentially DM'ing for Sanae. It felt like it teaches the player how much goes into making foes that behave in fun ways - and how even the most standard turn-based RPG formula is made good in the right conditions.

Overall, it's a very fun concept that I enjoyed playing the entire way through!

I really want to see this expanded post-jam. The idea of a game being *controlling* the outcome of anotherwise existing genre has a lot of potential, on top of the fun I already had.

(review based on 0.1.0 jam version)

Every copy of NITORI QUEST is personalized.

REALLY good concept on this one, and one of the best fits for the theme i’ve seen so far! the execution is fantastic too, both in terms of gameplay and presentation. it was a little unclear what to do starting out, but i got my bearings pretty fast just by messing around, and it was fun trying to keep things fresh for sanae. i do wish the scoring was clearer, would add some replayability if i could go for a high score. the art is PHENOMENAL here, it adds a lot to the vibe! think it’s what those newfangled kids call “so retro” nowadays. sanae’s reactions were also great, the dialogue felt natural and in-character. definitely could’ve benefitted from some extra players and/or enemies, but it was still really fun as is. definitely gonna check out post-jam when i get the chance!

Very funny concept and I love the amount of personality that this game has. However, the instructions on what to do are a little vague. (The only indication i found was sanae once saying the game is too easy) Wish it were a bit more detailed on how you're supposed to get score and not get sanae to quit.

Sometimes I feel we all have our own Nitori controlling the RNG in our games.

I like the idea of making yukkuri a slime! Also the pixel art is nice in this game :>

I absolutely love the use of "every version of this game is personalized". Really fun concept and i'd love to see more with different characters that reflect  how different people play rpg games. (Like someone who goes all attack, or someone who is exceedingly cautious and constantly heals)

Slick looking UI, and that music is godlike.
