if you don’t know the answer, you don’t have to respond to the question.

I do know the answer to the question.

Is the problem the answer or reference to the FAQ page? I do not find either of them have a negative attitude. I try to write short and terse answers. Questions answered in the FAQ page in the Wiki are asked quite a lot, so it seems useful to remind there is FAQ page.

I can stop lurking on this forum if that is the will of the people.

Customer service can be a tricky skill to master, I still fail at it all the time because I can be tired, annoyed, or frustrated with something irrelevant, so I sometimes unintentionally come across as an asshole if I provide a quick and blunt response for example.

I also would have given the answer that it's ready when it's ready, or more likely, not answer at all because I will make that clear in a post any time I do actually know.

It is very helpful to have someone knowledgeable answering questions for me, but people have certain expectations when engaging with a legitimate business. Pleasantries will go a long way, even if it's a performance, and everyone knows it. While we don't know each other, you are acting in my place by answering meta questions, so people have expectations tied to that.
