The artwork is supreme, i love it so much. all the details, the little sway of his coat, the backgrounds, everything looks really good.
If thats really your first time coding than hats off. the first time i coded i was happy i had text printed on the screen, so this is kind of a huge accomplishment what you did there in my opinion.

The 2 phased layout is a really clever idea for a platformer, i like it. hinting at the other dimension platforms with dashed lines is a good gamedesign choice. So a really good execution for a first game. Super impressive.

I couldnt get past this point cause im too stupid i guess lol :D

I tried like 40 times and then gave up.

A great game you can be really proud of yourself!

Wow! Thanks for such the high praise!! I did some coding in highschool a long time ago in java script but other than that yeah, first time. This is the result of a lot of heartbeast, brackeys and billz tutorials stitched together haha. The code is a huge mess, too. Originally, I had 2 different state machines for the different masks, and then 3 machines within each of those for the walk, climb, and dash states. Ended up being able to simplify it a lot by setting var for what animation player and sprite to use.

My original design didn't have the outlines for the hidden platforms, and it was just way too hard to tell where to jump and land. I'm glad that ended up being the right choice.

Hey, you got further than 90% of people. A huge issue that I see now is that the game is just way too hard as a result of me being the only play tester. If you get to that blue block, you just swap-dash-swap in rapid succession without moving and it takes you through spikes. Then up through the other ones and land on the next blue one.

Thanks for the kind review and taking the time to try out my game!!
