You art really shines here and it reminds me of the best parts of old flash games. I think your hitboxes and hurtboxes felt a little off, really the controls in general. Fun choice of inspiration too, classic reference.
Great entry and great showcase of your aesthetics.
Thank you for playing, and I appreciate the feedback!
Really solid art and gameplay! Wish there was more audio but beyond that great work. Minimal in a good way
Thank you! I agree about the audio, I wish I had prioritized it more but I ended up putting it off and ran out of time. Definitely something I want to improve on in the future.
Neat game! The gameplay is simple but well executed, and the art is not only charming (like those old flash games but with more polish) but also fits the (I don't know what it's called, Victorian?) aesthetic.
Thank you!
Poe was my first thought when we found out the theme was masks and I followed that through to Plague Doctors and the Black Death but I love your train of thought too...I did wonder what the little yellow bar filling up under health was all about but figured it was a special attack? But good job!
Thank you! It was intended to be an experience bar for leveling up, but I ended up having to spend a lot of extra time at work and didn't get as much time to work on the game as I had hoped, so at the very end I just used it to refill the player's lost health every time they kill enough enemies since I didn't have time to make a healing system either.
Ah, that makes sense and was a good way of prevented scope creep! Good choice.
very cool! loved the mood of it.
Thank you!
