Really enjoyed the comedy on this game, and absolutely loved the child-like drawings of the cinematics.
Really cute take on the theme.
P.S if you were using Unity Text Animator asset by Febucci please feel free to DM me and I can help quickly with the issue where the text appears for a frame before the new dialogue enters.
Hello!
I'm so glad you liked the game. I appreciate the time you took to play it ^^ thank you so much
Loved the gameplay, but can use some sound. Other than that I liked it :D
Hello! Sorry for delayed response
Unfortunately we were unable to build the game with sound in time due to some errors within Unity ;-;; BUUUT we have since updated the browser version with the music that was intended on being played so definitely feel free to check it out to give our musicians and sound designers some love ^^
I'm glad you liked it otherwise !! thank you for taking the time to play it <3
Disclaimer: Only played the jam version!
I actually enjoyed playing this game! It has its flaws but its funny and creative experience made up for something really interesting and unique! The gameloop is quite interesting, I like the way you tell a story with multiple quests you have to do and the different characters are funny as well. I didn't find any bugs fortunately so that's also really great. However, the game lacks music and sounds which would be really interesting to have here! I would love to experience this funny and creative world with some SFX and music!
The game is also extremely creative with its characters and the way it represents death! Really amazing and funny way to imagine a young and naive grim reaper! Really really creative writting and story! However, I struggled to find the link between the narrative and the jam's theme. I know they're both about death, but I didn't quite understand where's the opportunity part here. Maybe I missed something... I'm sorry if that was the case :(
Visuals are sooo funny and creative! The way you represent the cutscenes with cute drawing is sooo good! The contrast here also represents how naive the young boy is, especially when he kills the baker! The contrast is clear when you first see the blood after the cute cutscene. Really cool detail! I really appreciated it! However, the graphics seemed to glitch a little bit while walking mainly outside. Looked like the tiles where drawing weird lines between them. I would also suggest to add a little more clarity into the cutscenes regarding the text box. There were parts where I was kinda confused to know who was talking. It would be cool to have something identifying that like you have in the game itself outside the cutscenes. Despite those things, everything looks fine and plays fine and I really enjoyed the cute art, pixel art and the animations!
Overall, I enjoyed playing this game! Really cute and creative approach and theme! Despite me not understanding how it links to the jam's theme, I really enjoyed the art and funny and original story! At the end, it was a fun experience! Don't let the above critics demotivate you as they are mostly nitpicking and just improvements you could make (I only played the jam version so I'm not sure if you already fixed them!). Congratulations on your submission and great job on the creative work you have here!
I have so many comments to catch up to @-@ It's been a busy crunch
Thank you dearly for the very well detailed critique. I will send this to our team and we can definitely work on tweaking some bugs. Ofc, you are very welcome to try the post-jam version at your leisure (while it patches minor things and sound, it would be fantastic for the musical experience)
I'm so glad that globally you enjoyed it, while it possessed its flaws ^^ As for the theme, I try to keep it there while not totally in your face, but the idea was Tim was given the opportunity to practice and spread his love for magic (which I agree is a bit of a stretch xD I tried my darndest to weave it in)
TILES YES Unity seems to hate our tiles :D but I appreciate the comment nonetheless, that is on our to do list for future patches ! Everyone has been so supportive and encouraging to get this game more developped, and who knows. Maybe Timmy will get to share his magic with some other townsperson c:
Thank you again for the time you took to play and comment <3 it means immensely to us (especially to me, the game designer x3). I wish you well on the remainder of your game jam gamin' !!!
I love the humor. The game took a gruesome turn very quickly. For critique I think the pixel art could use some variation, especially with the ground in some places, like the grass or the planks.
Hi there !
Thank you for your feedback on the tilemaps ! It was my first pixel-art style game so I am open to learn more about that area.
that being said, duly noted for more variation c: I agree that it seems very monotonous! I should be able to speed up the process now that I understand more how Aseprite works x3
Got this game recommended by a streamer who actually made the art for this! Did not think I would go on an unknowing killing spree! xD
Hello ! streamer here!
I'm glad the end came to you as a nice surprise :3 it was as intended, but now i gotta figure out how to keep that charm if I decide to embark on a more developed game XD
Thank you for taking the time to play it though <3 it means a lot from the creator of Cadenzaaaa!!!
This is so cute, I only played the jam so far but wow this has a lot of potential! The character designs are really nice, and the animations are really well done! Seeing Bjorn’s split open head through the textbox caught me so off guard I couldn’t help but laugh, I love the juxtaposition of cute, silly character accidentally committing atrocities, it’s so good. The dialogue was bit clunky to click through and felt a bit slow and the fade out transitions felt a bit slow as well, I think if you sped them up just a bit would that would help with that.
I don’t know if there’s more past giving the kid the cookies because I could interact with him again after our skull buddy finished speaking and his dialogue replayed while it was fading to black and then I was just stuck on a black screen, so I might have found a bug but i’m not sure!
Overall super cool concept and i’ll definitely be playing the updated version later!
Hi!
Thank you for your comments :D they will help out in the long run!
One of our programmers is on it for polishing the dialogue for a smoother, better experience ^^ So expect that in a future patch!
Unfortunately, after the boy eats the cookies there isn't anything until I develop this project further :) There was meant a To Be Continued... Card + a Thank you for playing card but alas, time did not permit :c
The sound version with some polish is up though :D our programmer has been working hard to assemble that so feel free to check it out if you would like!
Also I thoroughly enjoy your reaction to bjorn X33 i'm glad it could elicit that reaction haha (I'm a SUCKER for that kind of humor/reveal)
I don't think Bjorn liked my magic trick... jokes aside, nice game! I like the visuals, and the world feels immersive and alive! I'm sure with enough time, a fully fledged world can be built. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for playing our game :)))
I think Bjorn liked it he just has a special way of expressing his appreciation x3 I'm glad you had an overall nice time though :D hopefully we can build beyond the little sector we made for the gamejam X3
I can't believe he didn't pay attention to my magic trick... smh
I know right??? Justice for Tim >:C
I really like the mixed media vibe and the game has a really strong sense of personality, like it has a lot of life to it. Excited to see what you turn it into!! Keep it up uwu
Thank you for your comment and for having taken the time to play the game <3 I'm glad that the dual artstyles resonated well with the story :) I hope to develop it a wheee bit more in the future c:
Cute and morbid, a fantastic combination! I'm looking forward to the updated version with sounds, as this game is so charmingly sinister with its clashing tones. I love it!
Hi there ! Oddacity here!
first off thank you so much for playing our game <3 it means a lot to the team. There is actually currently a post-jam ..exe version up for people who have played the Rateable experience & just general folk who aren't in the jam c: that's where you will find the sound!! I hope you enjoy it as it was intended to be shipped (give some love to our music composer and SFX designer x3)
that was very hilarious lmao, very humorous and silly, great job !!! and i see what you mean about the assistant lol xD similar brainwaves. that was fun! keep it up!!
Thank you for playing our game :) I'm glad you had a good time (aly too ! )
Guys, I don't Bjorn fell asleep. Cool game! I loved the concept!
Thank you!!! and nooo, he's not sleeeepingggg... he'S just ... resting his eyes that's all :D
I love this art style its so pretty! I need more so i can see more of this art style tbh
Your wish is Tim's command ^^ (I hope to develop this game in the future <3 it was so much fun to make!!)
Thank you so much for playing!
I had a lot of fun playing this game and got a chuckle from a lot of the dialogue (especially when the magic wand was turned into a scythe 😂). I only wish the game was longer because I definitely would have played more of it. Overall well done, especially for a game made in such a short period of time!
Hi!
Thank you for having played our game! It brings me joy to see the experience you had during your playthrough! The dialogue is honestly one of my proudest points of this project and I have our co-writer Eccelias to thank for that x3 I am definitely planning on developing on this project in eventuality as I see it's got some good traction so far ^^ WHEN is another question XD
Again thank you for your comment and sorry for my late reply! hope you had a nice gamejam <3
A fun little game with some nice charm. I liked the humor in it. Nice work :)
Thank you <3 I loved your game too !! it had a fun take on the theme !
