Kenny, this game is almost amazing. but the physics system feels so busted compared to something like Demon’s Tilt. it’s nearly impossible to consistently make shots in this, even before all the modifiers.

I really love the concept, I just hope you can fix the physics so it feels like pinball, and not just completely out of control at all times.

(I’ve got a 240hz monitor, so maybe there’s something with the timings that’s busted at higher frame rates? I dunno, it just feels completely impossible to make shots as things are)

Hey, I completely agree! The phyics has been a major bugbear for ages but almost everytime I try and address it, it ends up getting worse and I end up undoing all my changes. I'm clamping the ball speed at a really high rate for example, which means consecutive bouncing goes absolutely nuts, but lowering it causes the inital flipper contact not to apply enough force to get the ball up fast enough. And I'll not even start on some of the horrid angles the ball travels in from the flippers.

The right 'feel' is just such a hard thing to get right. Demons Tilt and Xenotilt are both a huge influence on this game (they completely melted my brain and retinas though so I actually kinda set out to create something a bit more chill and easier to follow for an amateur) and I do boot them up every now and again to compare how things feel, and CoP is always left feeling lacklustre by comparison.

I'm on it though, I will get the feeling right at some point if even it kills me! The next update has some minor changes to this, let me know if you see any imporvement but in my heart I know it's still way off.

honestly fantastic response, and I love both those games so much, so you’re definitely aiming for the right targets!

I’ll definitely give you feedback after the next release, for sure, and let you know how it feels compared to right now, since I feel like nailing the game feel is really the key to making this game a bit of a breakaway hit.

I love everything else you’re doing here, so I’ll definitely wishlist it on steam, now that I know how passionate you are about getting the feel right. keep it up! 😁

thank you so much that means a lot, I will do!

alright, just played the latest update. feels like there was some balancing that happened, and also maybe some physics tweaks? had a somewhat easier time making shots after the update, don’t know if that’s coincidental or not. in any case, looking forward to future updates!

hey thanks for coming back to check out the changes! There has indeed been some fixes to the physics, also some optimisations which improved the flipper response time which helped a lot as well I think. Still more to come, I should have another update out later today or possibly tomorrow, I’m hoping this continues to build on it even further but would be good to hear your thoughts when it’s up

just tried out the latest patch, controls are feeling even a little bit better it seems. definitely had an easier time playing tonight than previously, anyway. and did you add some more mechanics and table design stuff? there was definitely fun things in there that I didn’t remember seeing before (like the upper area bumper that got up and started crawling around, loved it! 😹

ah thanks for coming back! Yeah there’s been a fair few changes, I’m glad you liked them. Some more flipper physics changes are coming in the next update as well, alongside additional boss bumper mechanics and upgradable rituals. Should be out at some point in December!
