Unfortunately, this can be an issue with so many games in this genre... the authors are often young, with little romantic or sexual experience themselves, and with little to no real world experience dealing with the victims of darkest aspects of the human condition and the traumas that come with it. Add to this, they are often from non-western cultures, and it is often shocking just how problematic the narrative implications become if you probed them too deeply.
There really is not much you can do.
I do not think it is intentional. If you have played the Devs other game, Sicae... it is bat sh*t crazy, fuelled by every edgy lord art cliche, and absolutely ridiculous. Every bad Hong Kong B grade action movie, B grade Spaghetti Western, and Driven Matinee schlock...thing... you can imagine. Sh*t you think is SOOoooOOooooo CoOOOooooooOOOool when you are like... a 13 year old boy.
I THINK in that case, it is definitely deliberate... knowingly cliche trite edgy tryhard stuff... done with a chuckle...maybe.. I think... but still with some serious lack of awareness. In that game, I am not sure it is a problem. But if it IS in this one, and I guess I should DL now, and see.. I suspect, again, it is unintentional oversight, from a Dev looking for easy, but what they hope is still meaty, narrative to make the relationships work?
