Notes from session 7

(Minor note at the start, there is a good chance that Lilith’s player will have to withdraw from the campaign soon due to his job.)

- Eve’s got a headache. Also some bandages. Golly gee, I wonder why?

- bird and fox do their best to explain *the game show* last episode

- Zwei does her best snapcube robotnic impression because she has no fucking clue what those three are talking about

- Lilith finally wakes up again and immediately helps Eve get that point of persona back.

- exploring the rationing office (this took up most of the episode actually)

- snooping through the computer in here. The password was “8008” because I thought it’d be funny

- security footage of an imperial star unit getting into a gunfight (and loosing) before the camera itself is sent to Europa’s surface

- emails are nothing out of the ordinary, barring an email from Falke, stating that riot suppression protocols have changed. And an email telling everyone to keep a far lower profile on mining operations.

- open Zwei’s dms and- oh Christ that is… unprofessional.

- the mines are alive! This definitely won’t be a problem later, why do you ask?

- rest of the DMs are standard fare (people bitching between each other) (except a Mynah just sending Zwei pictures of stuffed animals)

- to a room across the hall! (We have an hour and a half left.)

- the worker bathrooms are very bare-bones, found half a key though.

- in the mirror, Eve doesn’t see her fellows around her. She sees a short woman in a pilot’s suit(Bird), a middle aged man in an Officer’s clothes(fox), and a medic(Lilith). Eve is dead in the reflection, BIRD however can see a young woman in winter clothes in Eve’s place in the reflection.

- to the last corridor of the session!

- we close the session off with Fox’s player falling asleep and a weird. And a very brief combat encounter.

Shorter notes than usual, but that’s more because we had less going on this time, here’s hoping some more things go on next session.

Notes from episode 7.5

- Eve fucking IMPLODES in an elevator

- the gang wakes up in some bombed out bunker

- so this is the fabled “outsi-“ THE WAR (also we’re on EARTH this episode!)

- oh hey there’s this injured and confused imperial pilot out here

- Lilith had to pretend to denounce the nation

- the pilot’s name is Nicole, and- oh wait what is this the human Bird was based on? (Yes) ((damn.))

- she explains (While Lilith tends to her wounds) that her transport plane got shot down while she was deploying a strike team. Also she’s extremely confused as to why there’s an administration unit out here that has an anti-tank rifle. (Y’know, ignoring the leather jacket and pink nails) ((we’ll get to that))

- the gang resolves to go south since there’s an airbase that way

- there’s a Flakr in these woods and she’s very confused as to why a SURGEON (Lilith) is in the WOODS with the ENEMY.

- session ends with Lilith deflecting a 40mm Anti Air shell back at the Flakr and then the gang gets fucking eviscerated by shrapnel, sending them back to the hallway they started

This session ended far earlier than usual, time zones are funny aren’t they?

Also as you noticed, Eve was not present in this session, don’t worry she won’t have any burns from exploding like she did from getting her brain blasted, but yeah, that’s why this week was a .5 episode rather than a normal session.

hi

Unfortunately I can not find my notes from session 8 at the moment, I’m still looking so please be patient. As I have to

From what I do remember, Lilith’s player was late so she was floating off the ground, the party was searching through a few hallways, had a brief run in with the ceaseless watcher, Lilith came in, they met an actual human character while exploring a prison that technically shouldn’t exist,  his name is Edmund, he’s technically not my character, and he’s supposed to have an Irish accent but I am unable to actually DO an Irish accent so I just did my best Scottish accent and it was fine, they met the merchant. She doesn’t like Ed. Anyway they met an almost corrupted star unit  who knew Fox! Also she finds him annoying and wasn’t willing to help so she… let herself out.

As slight bad news from this point on, there’s a good chance Lilith’s player will need to leave the campaign due to their job among other factors I am not at liberty to discuss.

Sucks about Lilith's player possibly needing to leave due to job related things. An all too common occurrence when it comes to tabletop games. Hope things work out for you all!

Haha right so, I recognise that I’m late with the sparknotes for the last session, my sincerest apologies for the delay.

Notes from session 9 (with mild annotation, as an apology for the late broadcast)

- the party enters the meat room (don’t question it, it’s fine, every prison has one)

- Eve grabs a weirdly familiar hand, and nearly gets pulled into the meat-wall (siblings, am I right? And then she just stared at Eve like SHE was the crazy one)

- Lilith wakes up- taped to the ceiling of the solitary room. Fun. (Yeah, surprisingly Lilith was able to show up this session! Fun)

- the team goes into the registry because “fuck it, there’s gotta be intel in here, and most of it is boring paperwork. Eddie was transferred to this facility a few days ago. maybe.

- turns out, the sister of the human Eve was based on was held in this prison before everything went fucky. Also since none of my players are here, her name is Nina Edleweise, a 23 year old Rotfront resident, jailed for being part of the Rotfront revolutionary committee, a group aiming for the planet’s independence from both the nation and empire.

- Lilith gets the urge to go over to block A-7, around the same time as Eve getting a bad feeling about Lilith. Cue a heartfelt moment

- cue the horrors for Lilith the moment she gets to block A-7 because the watcher wants to have a word with her. Ends up having a nice chat with… herself (highlights included, making Lilith think she killed Her closest friend, beaming a highlight reel from the human she’s based on’s life, going to that one rocky island, having a fun chat with that same person while her own corpse, learning the name of the template she was built off. Lilya. In character she won’t remember this but the players for her liked it)

-Lilith getting puppeteered around but trying to get back to the gang and- getting steered towards an open elevator shaft.

- the gang finds Lilith spinning in a doorway. Attempts at stopping her are ineffective but eventually it is done (Eve hit her with a fucking hell-sweep like this shit Tekkan. However since Bird was hanging off Lilith’s arm in a attempt to stop her from spinning, she also gets fucking launched into an elevator because I’m allergic to being subtle about where my players need to go to progress the story to the next stage.)

- the locker room is fine? Wrong! Corrupted Eule in one of the lockers. Also that Elster from like, the second session. (Yeah, remember L.S.T.R-001 “defect” from the early sessions)

- oh hey another reference to the oc of a person in the campaign(an arctic colonist parka belonging to Magnus Alabaster) as well as the drawing of foreshadowing.

- ending the session by Edmund folding a corrupted Eule in the showers like a lawn chair.

Again, my apologies for the delay fellow overseers, which reminds me I am now opening “audience participation” which is to say, if you have any ideas how to fuck with these robots. I’ll get to any ideas within a reasonable timeframe

I realise now that I accidentally sent the notes twice, apologies

Notes from session 10

  • what’s the best place to have a shower? Next to a corpse, apparently.
  • oh hey, the other half of the butterfly key. Surely nothing bad can come from this.
  • oh heavens no, the conses of my quences. (Plate of eternity obtained. Surely this will be fine.)
  • oh shit, someone dropped the metaphorical subtlety ball and Eve saw “her” dead “sister” (come to think of it, do we say “her sister” or not? There’s a lot of pedantic shit to consider)
  • Bird gets a headache every time she looks at the plate. No it’s fine.
  • Eve starts calling the watcher “all seeing eye” (I’m glad the previous references didn’t go unnoticed by a fellow archivist) (also standard dead sibling related plot points)
  • oh hey it’s the Penrose replika storage room- WAIT.
  • Defect(L.S.T.R-001 “defect”) is sick of my shit and talks about the whole time-loop shit, and also that she fucking hates back-tracking.
  • what’s the obvious answer to “I opened a door and found a tv static dimension”? Easy, stick your hand in. Or your entire arm, if you’re fox.
  • after Elster points out “hey, if we can access the contents of one storage box from any other storage box, can’t we travel using it?” And Lilith immediately jumps in and FUCKING EXPLODES. All that’s left for now is her ribbon. Eve is crying silently.
  • she decides to read Nina’s journal, detailing the days of protest and demonstrations leading up to her eventual capture and imprisonment.
  • they go to the mineshaft access- and it’s locked, fuck.
  • The elevator lobby still has exactly one functioning elevator.
  • the mineshaft access elevator is inoperable due to: meat moss overgrowth- IT HAS TENTACLES EW EW FOX BURN IT
  • escaping the room full of smoke into where the cryo room was, instead, all they found was a tv playing… THE GAMESHOW! FROM THE FIRST .5 EPISODE!! So they watched it.
  • went in the Protektor elevator, and went down a floor.
  • first hallway down here and already under attack.
  • oh hey a safe room! And a shotgun!!

End of session.

With lily gone we’re still nowhere close to fixing the predicament we’re in, but oh well, it’s cute watching these machines squirm~
-overseer

See y’all next week!

Notes from session 11

  • exploring the reception room leads to… fuck all really
  • I was extremely overt about “bioressonance disease” really being “Über radiation poisoning”, didn’t work.
  • oh god a lot of the People here had illnesses disease.
  • at this point it’d be impossible to hide *the thing but luckily none of these people have played signalis so I’m in the clear
  • they found grievance paperwork.
  • they find a card printer
  • turns out, the commander was the first to get infected, and it spread down through the command structure (except the administrator. HMMMMMMMMM)
  • oh hey, Eddie and Defect are here now. Fucking SOMEHOW.
  • the waiting room is quite peaceful. Gee, I wonder why this MEDICAL FLOOR has a WAITING ROOM.
  • as a joke Eve splashes some water from the plants on the key card interface and it works for exactly ten seconds and then locks again. Funny attempt.
  • Eve gets her first kill! On a corrupted Star no less! Great work.
  • joke about “pipe room” and “pump room” sounding like the names of a strip club. Anyway, they’re locked.
  • “this bathroom is fine- HOLY SHIT GALF TO FLOOR IS FUCKING GONE” also there’s another dead Arar with invasive plants (which is just a theme I guess. The plant this time is Kudzu fyi)
  • ok north wing time
  • let’s go to the morgue, it’s what Lilith would’ve wanted. No cannibalism though.
  • first new enemy in a while!! The corrupted Arar!
  • finding a note that tells us what we already knew, destroy the bodies.
  • note to literally anyone who is looking to do puzzles in a campaign. FUCKING PLAY-TEST THEM. I forgot to with this one and as such, it was a mess trying to help these three to work the incinerator. The did get the fire key though!
  • they found Easter-egg character “Mr bones” and immediately threw him in the incinerator.
  • Lilith’s ghost makes its presence known to Eve only. She has a lot of ghosts around her, huh?
  • the party ends the session in the imaging room.

*right so, as the observant of you may or may not have noticed by this point, the map of this campaign is a modified version of the maps from the original Signalis, with a healthy smattering of original locations through the doors of horror as well as the .5 episodes being entirely disconnected, point is, this was the session where this became the most obvious, and since it was clear this story has been quite derivative from the start, but since at the very least I know Bird’s player handler has seen one or more play-throughs of Signalis, I was genuinely kinda expecting him to point that out. For my sake, I’m bring this up here because I know that a certain incorporeal vulture sometimes reads these notes, so for my sake, don’t tell the others.

Either way, this session went incredibly well all things considered, everyone was tired as hell though except Bird’s Operator, who was as bright and confused as he always is

See you next week!
zum Ruhm unserer Nation!

Gotta say, this is helping me a lot to plan for my own campaign and I love the little notes. Thanks for keeping this up!

glad to hear that! let us know how it goes if you can

(1 edit)

ok look, I've had to redo this bit of text five- sorry, ELEVEN times because the web-page keeps reloading for some reason, welcome to-

episode 11.5: "there's a fox in the garbage can again"

bird and fox are in the imaging room still, the improbability drive[you remember the gameshow, right?] starts going crazy, leading to fox and bird getting sent backwards in time. now the thing is, Adler units don't exist yet, right? so fox is the standing in for the human that will eventually be used as the base for all A.D.L.R units. they get lead down to the briefing room, Bird gets connected to a Kolibri hivemind for the first time in god knows how long and the reigning consensus is; "wow, what an asshole", anyway Fox is assigned under him, doing the paperwork he doesn't feel like bothering with so, to distract him and find out what's up with the commander since Bird at the very least is on to my bullshit, leading to an exchange that my own words couldn't hope to match the comedy of Bird's own wording, so here

"The Fox based 0.5[11.5] session starts with a kolibri network organising a meetup between Fox and some gay guy so Fox can seduce him while Bird keeps the network up to date like it's a romance novel, all just to distract the homophobic admin. It fucking worked. XD"
[note: sometimes your players are simply funnier than you an you just gotta be honest with yourself about that.]

and I must state, it worked. handily, the fucker went unmentioned until the end of the session after that. Now, being the genre savvy pair they are, they decided to go straight over to the commander's quarters. While looking around in her office, they find two Eules, as well as some meat-moss growing under the entirely-too-small desk, so naturally Fox just burns it with his lighter, the meat catching like flash-paper. Fox, Bird, and the two Eules stand around trying to deny it being weird at all because seriously, the fuck are they really going to do about this, this is far beyond anything they were designed for, if you found living meat stuck to the bottom of a desk like awful gum, would you know what to do there? anyway, in the study they find: ANOTHER GAS-MASK GUY!! seemingly a friendly variant of the other masked soldier guy [the one that keeps shooting the party and being ominous] and he actually makes some pleasant conversation before fucking exploding into more meat moss as the memory data corrupts, they meet the commander, a F.L.K.R unit. the empires best, a spitting image of the empress herself- provided she was extremely tired and irritable. making Bird take several points of temporary persona damage from the sheer mental energy radiating off the commander, also, unrelated, there's an A.R.A.R with a makeshift flamethrower burning the mass of flesh that used to be gas-mask guy. Look, I don't think I need to tell you that went awfully in the long run. Anyway the rest of the session went by quick, which is very convenient for me now because I'm very tired[as of writing this, it is 4:39AM] they arrive back at the office, get tasked to bring the suspiciously already open "known issues" document back down to the commander, finding the study fully on fire when they get there, and the commander just watching like "of course this happens the ONE TIME when I try to rest"

the old administrator gets gunned down in the office, turns out this session has taken place over a week chronologically speaking but was only a few hours for bird and Fox, they end up outside the airbase they used to be stationed at, then they end up in a pile back in the imaging room, and SCENE, the end

What did we learn this week? never expect serious character moments when your party consists only of its silliest people, all of which are in a giggly mood that day! seriously though it was great

See y'all next week!

Genuinely I wish there was a "like" or "I love everything about this" button on itch.io because I've just been absolutely delighted by the amount of effort you put into updating us on how things go in your game. This post especially since it took some extra effort due to itch or your browser making it harder for you.
