Damn. How did this not get a lot of attention. This is not just a jam game, this is A game. It is very polished and despite having a potato laptop, I've only encountered one or two lag spikes (just when loading the game). If this was a full game, I would play the heck out of it.
There were a few problems here and there but nothing I didn't manage:
- First is the tutorial. A bunch of text giving me a vague idea of how the game works without showing me any correlation to the gameplay UI, which left me confused at my first playthrough but managed to figure it out after messing around and conquered at my second.
- When the new round comes in, you get a chance to increase your chefs at any owned territory you want which is great, but there were a couple of times when, in that moment, I will look up the recipe menu to analyze which biscuit I want to make (the ones with higher points) so that I can think of ways to strategically place my new chefs in order to acquire those materials and counter incoming opponents incase of an attack, but when I go back to try and place my new chefs, it doesn't work.
Basically, during placement mode (adding new chefs), when I click on any other UIs, it stops working. So there's a bug--is what I'm trying to say. I don't know why I could've just said that. - Lastly, I don't know if it's just my potato laptop but the camera doesn't move. It can only pivot. So I'm stuck in one place. And it's difficult for me to see from afar especially when I'm winning.
TL;DR: Do a better tutorial, fix the bug, I can't go around and move the camera to witness my glory.
I forgot to mention, I barely used the bloody biscuits since I can just win by strategy and don't feel the need to do any sacrifice or whatever. Aka the game is too easy.
Overall, very fun game. The first time I 5 starred all categories for a game. I mean, I recently just started doing game jams a few weeks ago so I'm fairly new.
Sad that this isn't getting a lot of attention. Hope the tides will turn.
Amazing work.
