Love the art and aesthetic, they're eye catching!
Some additional visual and aduio feedback on interacting with things would help it pop and be more fun. The UI for selecting Nimikins on the bottom-left should be bigger to help emphasize to interact with it. Almost glossed over it .
Overall I think this is a solid base that has potential to be more (:

I definitely agree the little circles are not intuitive (｡•́ㅁ•̀｡)! The long term plan is to place them under the the tiny island icons in the regions menu so you can quickly adjust which islands you have pets equipped to all at once without menu swapping.
For noow maybe I can just hand draw an "equip a Nimikins" with an arrow pointed to them until you use it for the first time (╭ರ_•́)
