Opposite Day - Most shooter games have you aiming directly at your targets. Well, today is Opposite Day. Now, you have to shoot DOWN instead of UP. And you have to bounce your shots off the walls instead of aiming directly at your targets. Of course, you still have to hit them to score points, but it's not so easy when things are a little backwards!

I love retro games because of the low rez, highly pixelated look. The lack of detail makes the imagination have to work overtime, and while my game isn't exactly graphically intensive, I feel like the challenge of squeezing every bit of information I could into the tight space provided while giving the player enough room to engage with the game and still have fun was extremely challenging. It made me rethink a lot of design elements I wanted to add but had to cut or they would have cluttered up the screen and made it difficult to play the game.

Really neat twist on the breakout like genre, and somehow it manages to nullify any experience of mine with the upside down nature of it. The miss counter is kinda rough, but I assume it is there to discourage spamming your shots. graphics were simple, but they made their job work, explosions felt neat, well done

Fun game! I got to Round 4, Wave 1 before my untimely demise. Score was 21930. I liked the particles and explosions, very satisfying to explode.

This one was quite fun to play. The bouncing projectile and explosions were strangely satisfying. I wasn’t that much into keeping track of the score, misses and bonuses though: very much concentrating in aiming and shooting.

Cool game! I especially liked the explosion effects and the a sound! Love to see this idea explored even more!

It may not seem like it, but it can be quite addictive. I think a different color palette might have worked better, but the one it has is fine. I would have liked the game space to take up more of the screen and the statistics less. Good job.

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it.

Originally, it was a lot more colorful, but given the tight constraints, I just didn't know how to make it look more attractive without cluttering up the field or becoming too distracting. And then, suddenly, I remembered playing "Arkanoid" on the GameBoy Classic, and it seemed to make sense to try and mimic that color palette. Once I went in that direction, it became easier to create something more thematic, even if it wasn't very attractive. In the end, I actually feel kind of embarrassed when I see what others were capable of with such extreme limitations. Some of these other entries are absolutely stunning.

Meanwhile... the stats displays were the bane of my existence. I tried to make a smaller font than the system default but it ended up being pretty much the same. I just couldn't figure out a better way to convey important information about game status to the player.
