Another common feedback item is the idleness of Orbrix. Some people want it more idle, while others argue that the game shouldn't be idle at all. I would like to support both play styles.

To facilitate this, I think some changes will be made. If you opt for idle gameplay (auto-fire), then you get less rewards from bricks and waves last longer between bosses. This sounds punishing so I would like to reward idle players in some way.

The real idle gameplay will come with endless mode. Once you beat the game, you can unlock every upgrade and kill infinite waves of bricks. Really want to nail the feeling of being overpowered in endless mode, and maybe allowing a prestige mechanic could help with this. Although I try to avoid prestige mechanics, i think it might be fun for an endless mode

What do you think? What kind of idle experiences would you like to see in Orbrix?

One of the biggest pieces of feedback received is that General Upgrades dont feel impactful after awhile. Add_Bullet and Add_Damage doesnt impact the same after doing it 20 times.

I am entertaining ideas for how to solve this. One idea is that instead of having all these upgrades, you can only choose one or the other. Would you rather have more bullets, or faster reload time? Stronger bullets or faster bullets? The idea is that you can make builds from this, sniper build, cannon build, etc.

With this in mind, im thinking of adding the following upgrades: Bullet_Speed, Bullet_lifetime(increase vs decrease?), Bullet_piercing(size)
Currently, these are all the general upgrades

  • BALL_DAMAGE
  • BALL_ADD
  • BALL_RELOAD_SPEED
  • BALL_FIRE_RATE
  • BRICK_REWARD
  • AUTO_FIRE
  • AUTO_RESTART
  • SKIP_LAYER
  • MONEY_TO_DIAMOND
  • CRIT_CHANCE
  • CRIT_DAMAGE

This kind of experimentation is what I love about gamedev. There are tons of potential to make Orbrix even more fun.

What do you think? What general upgrades would you like to see?

Hi everyone! I would love to hear feedback on Orbrix and I thought Itch forums would be a great place to do it! Feel free to comment here, or make a new thread.

Thanks a bunch for this comment! It means a lot to me that you enjoyed it

Really fun game! It's super relaxing and colorful and I really liked the bug collecting aspect. Nice job!

ngl, my play testers did not realize this. People who didn't know how to flick found the game way too slow, so I made hands more generous with leaf grabs. Congrats on being one of my elite players!

Thanks for playing!!!

Awesome game! Really stylish and the upgrades are very fun! Congrats!

Thanks for playing!

I launched Among The Leaves today! It starts out as a cozy autumn game about raking leaves, but it slowly gets twisted as you uncover disturbing items under the leaves. Check it out!

Fantastic tileset and color theme! I used it in my autumn themed horror game about raking leaves

Great tracks! I ended up using it for my horror game, I hope that's okay

Thank you for the feedback! Several other people said I should keep the music in so I will do that once the jam is over

I love these characters! Especially sheep!

This game was absolutely hilarious. I laughed so hard when the guy went through a booster and zoomed off. Really funny audio and great use of the jams theme. Well done!

I had to look up the final ending but it was sooo worth it! hahaha. This game made me laugh a lot :o)

This was cute and fun! I know I shouldn't but I really enjoyed hitting the cow with the lawnmower haha

I would really love to add background music, but it was really hard to make it work well with the meteor noises. Maybe something that is really ambient would work. Thanks for playing!

Absolutely amazing game. Loved every moment of it

This music goes hard! I got a score of 432. Poor bird!

This game was absolutely adorable, I loved having the animals following me. The music was fantastic too!

Absolutely gorgeous game! Well done!

This was really addicting! I especially loved the last level! Go worm go!!

This game is really amazing! Everything is incredible, especially the art! So well done that I was forgetting it was a LowRez game! Well done!

Cool game! I especially liked the explosion effects and the a sound! Love to see this idea explored even more!

Love this pinball idea! It would be cool to go even further and add more flippers!

Fun game! I love the multiple endings and the music!

I love the music and the bee icon <3

Very cute game! I really love the pixel art of all the animals :o)

I beat it! I really enjoyed it! It was really mesmerizing watching your team absorb the map, and beating every level was addicting. I want more! Himeji was definitely the most challenging map

My only feedback is that the instructions at the beginning were confusing for me. When I saw the blinking colors, I assumed I was supposed to click one. So I would maybe change the text to "Click anywhere to start"

Haha this is great :)

Thank you!

Later Crater! is a fast-paced top-down arcade game where you dodge incoming meteors and survive as long as you can. Each impact blasts a crater into the ground. Fall in and it's game over!

With 5 different level types and 3 escalating difficulty levels, there is plenty of challenge. How long can you survive? Share your high score in the comments!

Farmiñata is a cozy idle farming game. Build your farm with the help of a piñata and a bunch of upgradeable friends! As you upgrade, the concrete wasteland slowly blossoms into a vibrant and lush environment.

Hi otterisk! These assets are absolutely fantastic! I used them and some of the other Hana Caraka Asset Packs in my latest game.

Hi Tallbeard! I once again used one of your tracks for one of my games! I was looking for a cozy, chill vibe and Sketchbook 2024-04-24_02 was perfect. Thanks!
