I think it was a good idea to remove that scene. 

Personally I avoided it, I just walked right past.

That scene did nothing for the story, the new scenes that have been put in to replace them actually establish Anya as a character instead  of just some cheap thrill.

Its too bad shes been left behind, no longer part of the story. But then there are so many characters in the story, maybe its a good thing shes no longer a part of it.
