really cool concept! enjoyed it a lot

Sooo frustrating ! Because I can't understand how playing it. Maybe I'm stupid 😅... And I kept trying, because I really (but really) loved the art direction. One of my favorite on this jam. This is a really good job. I hope I'll understand how to play it one day!

Developer

thanks for playing! i tried to give an explanation in the description of the itch page, hopefully that helps! but yeah, we didn't have time to implement a full tutorial unfortunately :(

Very original game, the art is AMAZING. I know others have pointed out that seeing anomalies is a bit tricky, but other than that this game is great! Great work

Developer

thanks for playing! we intentionally varied the difficulty of anomalies, maybe some are still too hard haha

Such a clever and original game! Loved the concept and felt trapped in the experience! Really enjoyed playing it

thanks for playing!

Pretty Original game, love the art

It was hard to identify anomalies at first, but after you get it its really fu

I was really enjoying the whole vibe and game but it isn't clear what is an anomaly and what isn't. Why aren't different coloured chairs, or appearing/missing grab handles classed as an anomaly?

Developer(+1)

thanks for playing! yeah, a super valid point, and we suffered from a lack of tutorial. the initial idea was that every train car would be unique in its own way, and that anomalies are spooky variations of any of these train cars. so then the game loop would require you to remember not just one train car in the train, but all of them.

in the end we didn't have time to make the train cars too unique (would require a LOT more art assets), so we settled with chair colors and handlebars as ways to differentiate the cars. but then i totally get how those could get misconstrued as anomalies. i think if we did make the cars different enough, this wouldn't be that much of an issue, but i could stand corrected.

Ah yeah that all makes a lot of sense, thanks for clarifying. I'll drop back into the game and play again now I have that knowledge :)

Submitted

Yay! Armed with that knowledge (and a re-read of the instructions :) ) I played through it to the end. Great job, I feel pretty inspired to try a game like this myself!

Developer

thanks for retrying! would love to try out what you make :)

Wow this is very well done! The visuals, audio design and the ost were great and I think the gameplay fits well with the theme. One thing I'd change it's to not let you get off the train on the first loop, at first I thought that I only needed to check differences between the first cart and the next ones (because I also played exit 8 and wrongfully assumed it'd be about arriving to further and further carts, and because I thought there'd be 5 carts, but it was actually 5 trains I had to get on oops), still once I understood it the game was super enjoyable.

I was even so lost in thought that I started to think that the lights on the ceiling were anomalies at one point lmao

thanks for playing! we actually thought about implementing your suggestion during the jam!! but we ran out of time and forgot about it in the end. that would definitely be on the list of to-dos for a post-jam version.

Makes sense, honestly I'd be very interested in playing a slightly more expanded and polished version.

Finished this game feels great! It was a fun experience especially the well explained tutorial in the description helped a lot.

Amazing visuals. The gameplay is really nice. Enjoyed playing the game.

Really enjoyed the concept and execution! The art style adds so much atmosphere, and the loop mechanic with spotting anomalies made for a tense and intriguing experience. Would love to see this expanded with more kinds of loops or narrative depth. Great job!

Submitted(+1)

Pretty sweet take. We also had an idea of breaking a loop once we spotted a difference but could never pin down how the game would work so we went a simpler road. This is precisely it! EXCELLENT EXECUTION pretty enjoyable game!

This was cool! I really dig the art style. Exit 8 vibes for sure. Nice job!

Awesome

Please make this into a game with more kinds of loops <3
