This is really creative. That moment at the start when the cards are faster is the single most anxiety-inducing thing on this green Earth. Combine that with what I assume is a deliberately chaotic control scheme and you have a player slowly sinking into a state of complete panic in the best way possible.

I’m really glad we managed to trigger that anxiety with the initial card acceleration. The game tries to intimidate the player — but hopefully only a little — and then rewards them later on.

As for the chaos in the controls, I think the biggest issue is with swapping cards. The player should clearly understand which card is swapping with which.

Does the game highlight both cards for swapping? There's no real need for only one card to be highlighted, right?

It now highlights only the selected card. It would be clearer if the target card were highlighted as well.

My thoughts exactly. But I imagine it's a quick fix once the jam is passed! And since your game showed up in the GMTK stream, you might still get a bunch of new players after the voting period!
