a bit buggy, but incredibly charming, also Neco-Arc
Yeah, couldn't come up with other sounds to put in. Though could I ask what bugs did you encounter? Trying to find out which appear in most regular playthroughs and see if I can fix them.
sometimes I wouldn't be able to take a mug back to the tea/coffee machine, sometimes I couldn't get out, just small minor control issues that could be smoothed out
If it comes to the coffee machine, after selecting a drink you have to wait five seconds until it brews itself. That's on me for not explaining. When it comes to getting out, I'll definitely have to check out what's wrong with that. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Echoing nerrherrherr here. Basically exaclty how I feel haha. Also we talked a bit in Discord, I love your style for the intro's and the overall style of the game. Charming as all get out and stylized af. Love it.
Thanks for your opinion! Comments like yours really encourage me to continue the development!
Though I found the tutorial a bit confusing, it's actually easy to get your head around how everything works, and serving the little guys was fun and cosy, and now I can pay off mob debt :) Also is the menu based off the menu in Friday Night Funkin'? There's a lot of similarities, and I believe some of the sound effects were used in there too.
I also didn't find any bugs in this, only hungry GubGubs. Great game!
Yeah, I will make the tutorial a slideshow that explains everything better once I make the official release version. And yes, for now the menu sound effects are stolen- ekhem, borrowed, from the FNF files. Will prolly change it tho.
Fun concept, filling out the little orders was pretty straightforward and I can see the vision! Great job!
Yeah, I'm looking forward to making most orders be able to made in 10-15 seconds as I plan on adding some timers. Mainly things that encourage you to go faster, but a regular pace will also be able to do stuff. But thanks for the comment! I like to see people actually enjoy my first game!
pretty fun but i dont really know where to put stuff after ive made it, like i make all the right order things, they disappear somewhere, and i ring the bell, then i get the next gubgub. good game and with time this could be perfected very nicely
Not making visual ques for putting those down is on me, and I will add them to the full version. But if they disappear, that means you're just putting them down. But thanx for your review!
You have a pretty good base of a game here but I think it could use some work. I think just a few small changes could make this a really solid game!! The tutorial was a little scary and confusing at first but once I actually got into the game it just clicked in place and I understood it pretty well!! Didn't take long to wrap my head around at all besides from a few things.
It took me a bit to understand how filling the biscuit bags worked. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to fill them completely or if I was allowed to mix different biscuits together or not. I eventually just stopped mixing different biscuits and only filling the bags more if they asked for more than one of that item. That might be on me, though. I do have severe dumb brain. I wasn't exactly sure what meant I did an order right or wrong. I assume the sort of -.- faces the little guys do means I got the order wrong. The sound queues made me think I got it wrong no matter what for a bit haha. I think the camera moving the mouse around is a little unnecessary, everything fit on screen with no issue and it made me a little nauseous. Coffee and the water for tea both take a bit to fill, which I don't mind I think that can work, but it did make me think I broke the game and it wasn't reacting to my inputs for a bit. I think if you added an animation to show it was pouring it that would work, though. It would be nice if it either crossed off items you've completed or the items you put down on the counter showed up on the counter, this isn't too much of an issue I didn't find myself forgetting what I had done at all and you could argue that this is part of the challenge but it did make me unsure for a while on if I was actually giving the characters their stuff. I also kept accidentally picking up plates and paper bags by accident and I wasn't sure how to put them down.
Some of the biscuits and teas are a little difficult to differentiate, could either be a positive or a negative depending on how you look at it haha. It wasn't impossible to get them right at all, though.
I feel really bad for having written all of that but really I don't think any of those are big issues, it's just a bunch of smaller issues with (I think) simple fixes that rack up and get a little annoying altogether.
I do like the premise of the game, it's simple but really sweet. I really like the little guys that change the gameplay in some way like that one guy (who I assume is doᗺ) that makes everything reverse and the guy who makes everything blurry. Adds a slight extra challenge and throws you off your feet just enough to keep you interested in the game. Even though they didn't change gameplay the little guy with the skirt was also really cute :) that one's my favourite.
This is probably more of a personal thing, not a super big fan of the aesthetic. I expected more deep purples and more obvious space related things based off the menu and thumbnails. The colours in the game feel more like silly kids game than something cozy to sit down with a cup of tea with. Not a big issue at all, it's fine, doesn't matter, and I get that colours can be a little tricky arghh scary hard to get right in art. I do really like the designs of the little guys regardless, though, and they do fit in their environment!! The style is consistent which is more important than personal taste probably, haha.
I played up until I got the end screen! Huzzah! I can pay off my mob debt! That caught me a little off guard but I'll assume that's a place holder for the jam or something, it gets the job done. I did play this with a cup of tea and a gingerbread man, and I think they paired very nicely with the game! :)
Wow, thank you for the long comment! This will really help me with the development of it. This game is not finished yet. I will work to polish it more. What's on me is not explaining the gameplay properly and not making audio and visual queues properly, and will work on that. I don't really have a way of putting plated and biscuit bags down yet besides just removing the empty ones by putting them in the order area (they don't count while crunching down the numbers), I will fix it tho. The reason why the title and menu screen is WAY different from the game is also on me. I decided to make it myself to keep some workload off of my artist, but kind of forgot what game I'm making in the process... That being said, I really appreciate your comment. Detailed descriptions of the player's struggles with my game really help with development.
holy shit the art here is really really good. gameplay was a tiny bit confusing at first but i got the hang of it :) also its cool seeing another submission use turbowarp
Yeah, my friend Arsoniztz saved the game with her skills. I wouldn't be able to finish this game if not them. I also noticed that it's a repeating pattern that players struggle with the system of my game not being properly explained. That's the issue that happens when the system seems obvious as you make it but you never did playtesting. 😅 I'll try to make the tutorial clearer and add more visual/audio ques. And I'll be sure to check your game out too. I'm interested what others pulled out using the same game engine.
Looks like an awesome game, unfortunatelly I wasn't able to play the game :(
Was it caused by some kind of issue with the game or just no time?
Idk, whenever I tried giving the foods and beverages to the little guys, they disappeared (the items). I tried a few times but didn't work unfortunatelly
So that's my fault for not showing that to the player, when they disappear it means they actually get added to the "made order" list. You just have to press the bell after making the whole order to confirm. Wrote that down in the game description. Hope you can try it out now!
cute! just one point of specific feedback - the slightly spinny background whilst i'm trying to read the 'how to cafe' tutorial section is a bit distracting and tbh almost nauseating!
Are we talking about the moving frame with the tutorial or the background behind it? I'm going to be updating the game along with it's tutorial, so want to make sure I'm changing the right thing.
I appreciate that! the background, not the frame
Not sure what i did but nothing i made was ever able to be given to the customer - other than that the art and sound design is fantastic and i really love the little intros at the start as well as the main menu
Yeah, I forgot to mention that in the tutorial so I wrote it in the game description. You simply have to put the made thing onto the rectangle that's on the counter and when you made all of that stuff you have to press the bell to ring it.
MORE THAN OK! OUTSTANDING!!!!!
