  • The game concept is amazing and it's really well done! The music is catchy and a bop, the gameplay is engaging, there are collectibles! And the 60 seconds to progress, although a somewhat annoying concept usually, but it makes sense here! The bed spawn system makes sure that the player can still progress, too! A few things to note: I think you could add a few more engaging commentaries whenever the world does break, kind of like the first time it happened. Something that would comment on your progress, maybe if you managed to break it prematurely by using the fishing rod or disc? It would be a fun little tidbit. It would also be fun it give the characters different voice tones, it would add a bit of personality to them too! All in all, REALLY well done, keep making cool things!

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarize your game!
You try to reach the world core to learn why is the world breaking. It's important to read signs and talk with npc's to understand game mechanics. Controls are listed on game page.

Please explain how your game fits the theme.
You have only one minute before the world breaks. Some mechanics are also limited to one like: only one inventory slot, each item can only be used once. (spoiler) Also the reason the world core breaks is because there can only be one world and only one player.

Super cool game! I think I've been playing for around an hour and I've reached the L**, I really wanted to beat it but apparently the game beat me :P I can't figure out what to do, I tried to flip the switches but I expected the disc to bounce against some walls, yet it seems it goes through as if there are no walls? But then it bounces on the other side? I just couldn't figure out the bouncing, maybe I'm not picking up on something because it's kinda late... I see other people figured it out so it's just me. Great one though, one of my favourite jam entries!

Thanks for playing the game! You're actually supposed to use the grappling hook instead of the disc in the lab, probably should have made that more clear. Also you're not the only one who didn't get it so don't worry.

Aaah, I see! I'd give it one more go if I could save and return... but still, I had a great time playing.
I made a list with my favourite games from the jam and I couldn't not mention World Break, it was seriously love at first sight. Let me know if you'd like me to remove it or change the images!

This game is really cool! The puzzles you've created are great, and the time loop mechanic let you add a lot of gameplay for little dev time. Definitely a game deserving of jam-winner status! The only nitpick i can give is that certain items being single-use (teleporter and especially fishing rod) is a real QoL issue - missing the fishing rod just ends up sad and causes the player to walk back for no reason.

Developer

Thanks! I was actually planning on changing the fishing rod and the teleporter in post jam update, so that problem will be resolved.

Streamed my review live on twitch:

Lovely 2d puzzle game, palette was great. Felt nearly as cool as one-shot. Looking forward to a revisit, this is very polished and well done! Maybe do a bit more and steam upload :o

Very interesting game and concept. It really reminds me of a game I played once called Minit I believe. Fun little puzzles and a cool idea. One problem I was having was with the teleporter, the first time I tried to use it, it was just no longer in my possession, and the second time when it did work on the # pillar, my only option after that seemed to be to wait for the next round because I couldn't return the way I came. While not game breaking, I didn't like having to just wait for my fate. Didn't quite finish the game, but I may return to it to see if I can at some point. All in all it seems like a pretty well put together game.

Developer(+1)

The teleporter has only one use and it teleports you if you're close enough to a pillar, maybe it didn't work the first time because you weren't close enough. You can also restart the game by holding R, so you don't need to wait until the world breaks by itself. That's why some places are made so you can't exit from them. I hope you enjoyed the game anyway and will give it a second try at some point!

I will likely try it again today, it would be nice to see how it ends and to know that I was able to beat it. Good to know on the R thing, thanks for the tip. Maybe if I was better at reading that would have made sense, since you clearly put that in your controls. I guess it just didn't quite click for me the first time around

The puzzles are good, but most of them are difficult to figure and I couldn't complete the game. I had no idea what I accomplished after I had successfully flipped all the switches in the L**. I think I was close to the end but I failed to see what has changed.

However, the game has so many nice stuff and so story rich. It's fun to explore despite there's only 60 seconds at a time.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. I tried making the puzzles not too hard but It's not easy when you know everything about the game. If you want to know what to do in the lab: you need to use grappling hook and banana trees to switch all the levers and get to the place with a door that will open. Then switch a lever there.

That's what I did.
I had triggered the player dialog in there too.
If that was the ending then it wasn't a very clear ending.

Very fun premise!!
