I downloaded it from the itch.io app and trying to launch it just opens a folder and theres no zip file or exe

Don't download from the app. It messes up the download. Download from the link on the games homepage and use the app "7zip" to extract the entire file structure. It should have a folder called "082c_011" or something and you drag that into a folder where you want to store it then you can open that folder and the folder inside of it and you will see the games .exe file.
