Maybe. But you also have to question how complicated that might be to do. I'm not a coder or game creator by any stretch, but I imagine that might take a lot of time to do, let alone developing a co-op mode to begin with.

Possible? Maybe. Likely? I'm not sure. It's a neat idea, and I can imagine that if co-op did come around, they might end up doing something like that.

While I would like a co-op mode for the game, I don't think it'll happen, simply because the dev doesn't think it's even possible to do, or might take too long to develop at this point.

I'm not saying it's set in stone, but the game is designed to be a solo experience, and I feel like it might be for the best, tbh. While I would love a co-op mode, you gotta admit that having someone else there with you would probably make the game a lot less spooky. Most of the spooks COME from being alone during everything that can happen in the game.

Do you have 7-zip or WinRar?

Very likely, so, yes. For one, the game should be launched directly, either from Itch itself, or from its application. And normally, when you download things from Itch (if you're using the application of Itch) then a dedicated folder is created for the games.

Considering you said he put it in his downloads folder, I would assume he downloaded the file more directly. He should extract it to a folder that isn't just downloads for most stability. Perhaps its own dedicated folder, he can label however. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen someone have this problem because the game wasn't in its own, dedicated place.

Try that, and see what happens.

As far as I can tell so far from research, some seem to be saying that this is an error that can occur if the application wasn't placed where the game's files are.

Is it just saying failing to download? Any errors? Any details are helpful.

Is an antivirus running? If so, try disabling it, and see if that lets the download finish.

You never know. Remember the game is still in alpha. You never know how far the game will go.

Did they install the game correctly and extract it into a proper folder?

Heh. 69 days ago. Nice.

I did not. I don't usually follow a lot of social media stuff, outside of certain game companies or creators that I follow for news.

I had no idea the updates were released on the same day. Huh. That's fancy to know. Well, I'll keep an eye out for the new update.

I can only imagine what might be added, as 0.9.0 must be a pretty big update, going from 0.8.2

I'm a bit dumb. What's important about the 19th?

Do they have a timeframe yet? I am too socially anxious to join a Discord because of my Autism, so I just kinda have to play it by ear on the forums.

You can always turn off the fall damage if it bothers you too much. No shame in it.

Hope you get it fixed, friend. :)

And how much RAM and disk space do you have?

Borderless Windowed does exist in the game options. Everything else you said, though, it depends on exactly what you're looking for. Like, what more volume sliders do you need? For what? If some things in the base bother you, you have the option to disable certain system sounds from the console in the server room.

And GPU?

Honestly, I don't see the problem in general. Yeah, it's a bit difficult to get used to, but more often than not, the only thing I use is Alternate and R to place something where I am pointing. Everything else, I just use the radial menu for.

Is it that hard? Not really. You only make it as complicated as you want it to be. You don't even need to use most of the controls, tbh.

What specs do you have?

All the video options you've come to know are generally in Render and Effects.

If you look in Task Manager, and go to Performance, if you went to your drive, it should tell you the type. Either HDD or SSD. If it's HDD, I'd recommend trying to put the game on an SSD, and see if that fixes your issue.

On another note, if your HDD is actually slow enough to not be able to load in textures, I would be pretty concerned.

Try resetting your graphics options back to default, and see if that helps any. If that doesn't help, maybe trying regen save data.

"Enable Custom Content." That is the setting. I looked at it yesterday, so I at least remember that much, thankfully.

Try refreshing custom assets. If that doesn't work, see if the "use" prompt is on the rugs/posters when you set them down. The updates over time added the function to have more custom assets, and allows you to select which one to use for that dedicated custom asset.

If those methods don't work, it may have been an update failsafe, and they might not be custom anymore. The only thing I can suggest at that point is just to buy new custom items, and re-apply them.

Well, I'm glad you got it figured out. Have fun, friend. ;3

Well, I hope you get it figured out. I'm not exactly knowledgeable enough with graphical settings to know what you must've messed up. You could always reset your options, as an alternative method to fixing your issue.

If a setting is what messed it up, then resetting the settings to default should fix the issue. Might be annoying to set everything how you want it again, but it should at least fix the issue. (In theory, if that's what messed it up to begin with.)

I am unsure if this is the exact problem I had a while back with certain programs, but in case it is, try this:

If you are using a Geforce GPU, go to your desktop, right click, and bring up Nvidia Control Pannel.

In manage 3D settings, look for Antialiasing - FXAA, and if it's on, turn it off.

See if that fixes your issue. Alternatively, if Antialiasing if offered up in the in-game settings, if the option is available, switch it to another mode, like TAA. I can't remember if it's an option for the game.

Are you sure no events are actively happening?

Yeah. And do keep in mind that laptops are prone to get hot with prolonged use, anyway. At the end of the day, laptops are just generally weaker. It may be normal-ish temp for a laptop, and I am unsure how cleaning would work.

It really depends. I'm not quite a laptop expert.

It's getting pretty close to dangerous, tbh. It's not quite "critical" but it is to the point where you should be considering either other cooling methods, a different environment, a cleaning, or repair.

We'll see. I wouldn't really call myself smart, because really, all I did was Google Search the problem. But, you are welcome. I always do like helping people, and making others happy.

Ah, okay. Glad you got it figured out. I BELIEVE the downloads folder should come back if you restarted your system. If not, an update might bring it back. I'm unsure exactly.

Here is what I've found with my research while looking up your error.

1, either you don't have D3D properly installed, or something of the sort.

2, your GPU drivers aren't up-to-date.

3, your GPU is too weak.

4, your GPU or RAM is not being detected.

I say to probably look into these and see if anything helps/this problem happens with any other games.

Could you show a screenshot of what you see?

It's all about sound. When you connect a cable to an outlet, the sound you hear indicates if it's compatible. If it makes a zap sound, it isn't compatible. If it makes no sound, you got the right connection. Repeat until you run out of connections, and you would have fixed the oven.

Well, there's a lot to go over here. The one that concerns me the most is DirectX not being supported, so you claim. This seems unusual, and makes me wonder what kind of machine you're running. Could you give more details as to what kind of PC you're running?
