In all chapters MC can cry after becoming Synthetic. In chapter 5 he can't because he is Synthetic.
chapter 1: "She was there to see you take your first steps into the unknown, and your first steps out of it. She was there for you when you smiled, and she was there for you when you cried..."

While in Chapter 5: "If you could still cry, you'd have broken into tears at the realization; your voice certainly cracked at it, at least."
