Pretty cool for a first game! The concept is neat, but (somewhat ironically) the issue for me was to get started, since it isn't intuitive how elements interact, it is hard to understand what's going on until you have read every description a couple times. I also had a black screen.

Thanks for trying it out and the feedback! I agree I think this kind of game needs a proper tutorial and a slower ramp up into the mechanics (different buildings one at a time etc.). The black screen is caused by the janky inventory system which I fudged in a few hours before the deadline, whoops
