The key art got me interested as soon as this was posted. The game itself is pretty fun, mostly polished even at this point, and has some lovely art.
The tutorial seemed to be bugged. It's not clear when it's supposed to advance, it felt like it took a long time at a few points, and eventually stopped advancing entirely (I think at the collecting leaves stage). I really wish the tutorial worked because some of the mechanics aren't intuitive, though I did pick them up quickly once I figured them out. To be fair, they are also explained on the game page.
A few of the controls also didn't seem to map as described, but maybe that's just webgl weirdness.
I think the only thing I felt was missing from the game was more of a game over screen- it just abruptly restarts and it isn't even entirely clear it's a game over at first. All the other ideas mentioned would be cool, but I think leaning into the score attack aspect would work well on its own.
More an issue with itch's font selection than anything, but the retro font makes the devlog pretty hard to read. I like how it went into the background and context of the project, but I wish there was more about the development itself once it began. It's not entirely clear to me what happened during the first jam and what happened later. I do think the headings could have been made more prominent as well.
