Creative Vision / Rationale / How Did You Incorporate the Theme
Up From The Sea is a crafting game, but instead of taking from the land, you "give to the land" by bringing up an island from the ocean.

I had a lot of fun playing this game and building my own little island! The first time I tried playing, though, I went too far and lost my friend and restarted. Figured it out after that haha.

I felt like the fish would spawn faster than I could collect driftwood and build more spears. I was also a little disappointed that my spears would disappear after killing a fish. I would've liked to be able to reuse them, but I understand that it may be that way to encourage more crafting and exploration.

I love the aesthetics of this game! The animation is the best. They move like in the lego movies. Btw I love crafting games, but I explored far away to find new stuff like rocks (which I didn't) and then I lost the crafting dude. So then I restarted the game, but again I didn't know how to proceed without getting lost. If he had a beacon it would be a great way for me to keep playing. Btw what can I do with the sand I collected?

Very good game, little hard on the pc but great visuals :) I can see this having a bigger potential, like discovering epic things in this world. :)

Edit: Oh I saw your itch page. So my goal is to create my own island with the sand. I am going to try it again :)

Second Edit: Okay I made my island, and I got it from there. This was so enjoyable to play after I got it. I wish other players got to see what this game is about. Since I love crafting games this was so much fun! This is my island at the end:

Thank you Eleni, what a kind comment! I'm glad you stuck with it and got hang of the basket, I need to spend more time working on the guidance at the beginning. Thanks so much for playtesting and leaving details, that helps me out a lot. Also I love your island, it looks so good!

WOAH The artstyle is UNIQUE!!! first time seeing 3d Pixelated or voxel with animation!! Love the uniqueness!!! This deserve more recognition!!

The movement feels like a Lego character haha!

One Thing I had trouble with is getting back to my crafting area, I wondered too far and got lost in finding my way back

Overall Love it! will try and progress more on the game!!

Well Done!

Thanks Vorgiven, your words make me smile! And the old timer definitely needs a beacon or something...

Also question, who have you been vorgiven by?  :D

I dig the aesthetic, reminds me a lot of Minecraft but with much more polished animations. The gameplay was pretty fun, I enjoyed swimming around collecting items, although I unfortunately couldn't progress too far due to the game lagging pretty badly on my laptop. Even so, I had fun with what I was able to play. I hope more people give it a try. Nice work!

Thanks HazGal, I appreciate that! And that was exactly what I was going for with the aesthetic, makes me happy to hear you say it!

Terrain manipulation and the ability to construct new objects… instructing the computer on these matters is a challenging task. The character moves in an amusing way, snapping to perfect forty-five degree increments.

The companion is easily lost at sea, and ravenously devours several coconuts without giving anything in return. His recipes required resources that seemed unattainable such as “palm wood”. Using the basket produced the message “too deep”, even in the shallowest of corners. Despite these concerns, the atmosphere and visual style are pleasant.
