I have no idea how to progress.

The lab seems to have two paths when you start with the You either get the saw, or the Lvl2 Key and C-beta.

With the Lv2 Key you can access the "Suit room" and the room with the penis monster and empty vials.

The console there is blinking for me, like I can interact with it, and in previous runs it used to make protein, but now it does nothing for me.

I can cut off the arm of the frozen person, thaw it, but not sure what to do it with.

I can cut off pieces of the squidrabbit for some reason.

A machine needs a canister I don't know where to find, and I can't go east or west past the scanner due to my Squidrabbit/facehugger appearance.

Help answers, or even clues or hints, would help.

The Protein recipe is in one of the small room PCs
The other recipe is in the Mainframe PC on the top left if you got infected you can go to Site Zeta Mainframe within the Looping Forest (its a tricky one)
the thawed arm can be used at the fingerprint readers (for the gun and the teleport room)

The canister is the cure to remove the squidrabbit and unwidow (Cockbug as Yuri calls it) and any nasty things
One of the vials is in the lvl 3 room fridge the other is at the tentacle room down at from squidrabbit

From lore bits from the PC the lab is quite empty and no pint in constant visit (the only reason I can think of is the lab->manor gun skips)

I definitely know where that protein recipe is. I didn't think it was a recipe, so much as just lore.
The Mainframe PC is what I can't access anymore, but I did hit it before I got transformed, so maybe if I get the protein recipe it'll help.
The Site Zeta is the one you reach going from the arc trees, to the purple tree, right?
I know there's some data at the computer but they want a level 3 or 4 key, which I don't know how to get from the lab to the forest.

Yes the Site Zeta is accessed through the purple tree

There is a Lvl 3 card at the void forest for the PC or just use a the code if you write that down after using the card (so you can skip the void forest)

Dont forget to bring an axe to the void forest

I'm not quiet sure what the void forest is. Can you explain it?

To not Spoil it completely the Looping forest Journal Page 17 (its one of the earlier)has an info how to access it.

Tips for the Void forest Bring an axe(hut basement) and cut down the 3 colored trees (without true sight the range is very small from which you can see them)

To me the hint reads to go from an orange tree to a red one, and these are supposed to be in the lost forest? I can't find them anywhere here.

The Orange one is upwards from the forest hut stand on top of it (very important)from there follow the Page direction and stand on top of the red one after following the the diary directions again you will be teleported after set distance ( its a trial of error there are no slimes along the path so its safe to try)

Note: there are 2 red tree one bring you to the Void forest(following real life magnetic direction) the Other to the Painted forest(following Looped Forest magnetic directions)

also should note that if you unlock a recipe and for some reason reload the save when you havent yet unlocked the recipe, the recipe wont show until unlocked and some areas might remain un interactable. the recipes dont need to be reunlocked within next dreams if you already once unlocked them in the same save.
