No it is not why do you people keep spreading misinformation otome means maiden game meaning the protag has to be female because otome is supposed to reflect the experiences and perspectives of women. Yet people keep reducing  it to mean dating sim, completely missing the point

(+52)(-3)

wait but in the game we can select to be as s female yk because there’s a she/her and he/him and them i mean ppl mostly see otome as two meanings and urs is also right unless is the player choose something else than a female mc😭🙏🏻

Please understand what I’m trying to explain Otome literally means 'maiden game,' and it was originally created with women players in mind. At the time, most visual novels only featured male protagonists, so otome games were developed as a love letter to women focusing on stories that reflect their experiences. That’s why having a female protagonist is essential for a game to be considered otome. If the game allows you to choose the protagonist's gender or isn't centered on a female lead, it would be more accurately classified as an amare game instead

Also, there aren't two separate meanings for the term otome game that’s misinformation largely spread by Western audiences. If you were to tag your game this way in the Eastern community, you'd likely be blacklisted or dismissed by much of the community for misrepresenting the genre

Hello, I just want to say, if u see the announcement, please care creator is away right now. if from the bottom of your heart this is something of trouble, you should email the creator privately and explain your views, writing here with entitlement is not good.

In this world, not everybody view the same, even for me, if i see female options, i see it as otome too. a lot of people are not technical, if this is a big problem for you, just know this is a first world problem, a lot normal people if this do not hurt or effect their life, no one care.

Please do not use race to justify ur answers. That is not correct way of things. if you want people to see your views, try to understand others too.

I just don't understand why new fans in the West can't respect the basic etiquette of the community I've been an otome fan for over 10+ years and it's only recently that this has become a problem

(+3)(-36)

So by that logic this should be marked as a yaoi game too since you can play as a male MC? Do you see now what I'm trying to say the otome tag for this makes no sense

(+37)(-4)

like i says, if you want to resolve your trouble, you should email the creator where the person can see you and explain your worries. But you only want to scream at the sky like a shouting dog. If all you want to do is complain, no one can help you. Bitterness will only destroy yourself. No one wants to go near a dog that bites.

Basic etiquette of humans is to resolve our trouble with words, yet you do not.

The world pass 10+ years many things has changed with it. No one is trying to enemy with you. We are just telling you our views, just because it is different , you want world to bow to your feelings? This is kid behaviour.

i agree!!! like no offence but im pretty sure not everyone view it the same

(1 edit) (+1)(-11)

I think I'm just going to stop interacting with Western otome and fans you refuse to respect our community and when we try to educate you on the meaning you just start attacking us and comparing us to kids

(+8)(-1)

Yes please do find your own. 你不属于这里。

(+34)(-2)

my suggestion for ur own peace, if you see something you don’t like, you can move away from it. People do not see this as righteous behaviour. Go on with your life.

If you wish to complain more, you should do it on the otome sub instead of comment section of a game you will not play.

yeah but so many people think if the game has so many love interest that are all male they might think its a otome for me if the mc is girl i would know immediately its an Otome because thats what im used for since i also play some old otome games the mc is always a girl for sure. i think because were in a more modern time there are more options available to make everyone feel included in the game like compared to before if a male want to play an otome game hes forced to be a girl in the game because thats what makes it but not in nowdays games  have many options.  also please dont forget every person might view the word different from other person  but no worries i get your point ^^

No ones is forcing men to play as female if playing as a women upsets someone so much it's just misogyny and they're free to play many of the countless games that cater to the male audience

(+2)

man i can smell the stench from here

(3 edits) (+2)(-23)

No, clearly no one understands what I’m saying but that’s fine. I’m stepping away from the Western community. The amount of misogyny here is honestly heartbreaking. So whatever, keep mistagging everything. Who cares anymore? Make a BL game with a female protagonist and call it yaoi apparently as long as it’s modern accuracy doesn’t matter

I think what the original commentor was attempting to say is that an otome is classified as a game targeted towards woman with a female mc. Typically, anything other would be classified as an otoge or amare game. I don't think it matters that the otome tag is listed on this game as there is the option for a fem mc. However, they are right, if there was no fem mc it would not be an otome game. I do think many in the fandom are a bit fed up with the term being used as an umbrella for romance games because that's not what an otome game is. In my personal opinion though this game can use to otome game tag though.
